I'm almost sorry to disappoint you but I sound just like Big Mo Slater from EastEnders, only not so erudite. :D

I received an email yesterday from a multinational company proclaiming that their new products will be "distributed to retailer's (sic) in June"

    *Sigh*

Re my dislike of incorrectly used "decimate" ]
To be fair... is that a commonly known definition?
I think I got to 30 before hearing about the Romans!

Even without knowing about Roman mutineers, surely a speaker would think it referred to ten of something (though whether it was a case of a tenth being killed or a tenth being left might elude them).

    And, while I'm back here:

Why are things now "in light of something" rather than "in the light of something"?

    Yep*, I've figured it. :D

We all know about apostrophe S, but nobody has heard about apostrophe T.

I am enjoying this thread. I do not like the use of padding in sentences - such as "i, myself.......", "my personal view" and basically, fundamentally, literally when whatever is not any of these.
    pacific for specific

    eversa (for ever so)

Oh, and "traumatised" and "disaster" for upset and an inconvenience.

The "essential" make-up for summer - neither essential nor necessary.

The tendency to make things "extreme" seems to highlight a fear of inadequacy.
