    This one takes the biscuit. This is a photograph taken by me at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. It speaks for itself...

    My husband likes to go for a wonder on a Sunday afternoon. QUOTE]
    Hi Kaz. You might have solved a mystery for me! I have to keep correcting myself as I want to say wonder instead of wander. I'm from the North East and didn't know where I picked it up. Looking at your location is maybe a clue...my Grandmother was Cornish!:T

    DH's family is from the North East though so maybe it's a North Eastern thing? They're from Newcastle. That or DH's just odd :rotfl:. He's the only right handy from a lefty family and he's the only one who eats left handed!

    MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.

    I used to work with an American girl who was, without apology, a redneck. She used some of the most wonderful phrases, but one in particular drove us absolutely insane, because we could not find the specific rule to prove it wrong. I discovered she had been a gymnast as a child. I asked if she could still do all the moves - tumbling, splits, back flips etc. Her response? Not 'I used to be able to'.

    'I used to could.'

    By the way, I haven't read the entire thread, but lots of people have mentioned 'Can I get' being the irritating version of 'Can I have....?'.

    It should be 'May I have....?'.

    Confusing 'program' with 'programme' is another common mistake.

    I hate these examples of linguistic abuse:

    * My bad.
    * That's a big ask.
    * Schedule (pronounced "skedule" instead of "shedule")
    * Gotten (not a word)

    My mother-in-law says things like, "I wouldn't could do that." It always makes me chuckle. :D
