DH's family is from the North East though so maybe it's a North Eastern thing? They're from Newcastle. That or DH's just odd :rotfl:. He's the only right handy from a lefty family and he's the only one who eats left handed!

I used to work with an American girl who was, without apology, a redneck. She used some of the most wonderful phrases, but one in particular drove us absolutely insane, because we could not find the specific rule to prove it wrong. I discovered she had been a gymnast as a child. I asked if she could still do all the moves - tumbling, splits, back flips etc. Her response? Not 'I used to be able to'.

'I used to could.'

By the way, I haven't read the entire thread, but lots of people have mentioned 'Can I get' being the irritating version of 'Can I have....?'.

It should be 'May I have....?'.

My mother-in-law says things like, "I wouldn't could do that." It always makes me chuckle.
