Not at all wrong. I was stopped in late 2001.

You must have looked dodgy then :D

If the Americans allow it then I would imagine most others will.....

Years ago, I was on a flight... it was either British Midland or BA, I cant quite remember :o

The flight attendants came round with duty free.
The woman in the seat in front of me, bought 200 cigarettes.
She then proceeded to open them, as if she was going to light one up.
The flight attendant, told her that she was not allowed to smoke on the flight....

She went a little OTT with the guy, putting on a right show, in an extremly loud voice, saying that why was he selling her fags if she wasn't allowed to smoke them... and it was a riduculous expectation that she should wait until she was within the terminal building ect ect.

The flight attendant was brilliant in his reply.
He calmly stated, in an equally loud voice
"Well Madame, if you buy condoms in Boots, due you expect to use them then and there also ?":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

She promplty sat down, and did not move the rest of the flight. :rotfl::rotfl:

lol that was jeremy on Airport!

lol that was jeremy on Airport!

Must be a common thing for hosties to say when faced with such occurances :rotfl:
  • gahh just given away that fact i'm an Airport fan... lol
  • In fact now smoking on airplanes has been outlawed, the air quality has dropped! Why? Because they used to invest heavily in filtering and purifying the air.

There should be a place in planes where you can smoke, well, thats if airlines were about accommodating and making travel comfortable for everyone.

It 's really a over-reaction but every thing just for the security of passengers .Lesson for the other passengers who smoke.

Their right to smoke does not overrule my right not to be put at risk or suffer an unpleasant experience. Smoking was allowed on the London Underground and then the Kings Cross fire happened. Passive smoking is now well proven as a risk - but some smokers still fight for their 'right' to smoke in a tin box with their kids breathing it all in while being driven around.

Smoking is not about rights, it's about addicts wheedling and whining to protect their next fix. Not dissimilar to what other drug addicts will do to score.

Before anyone comes back with the line about smoking being legal, as opposed to say heroin use - well not on planes it's not and the sooner it's not in any public space (or even private space in the presence of children, the better).

Similar applies to booze addicts, at least smoking does not affect the brain, like booze does, which is quite important in an emergency procedure on an aircraft.

Remember, alcohol is also a very powerful drug.

The 'safety' angle claim makes me giggle a bit...

    Really??

I was on a flight to Athens when a girl accidentally started a fire in the toilet after smoking. Pity you weren't on that flight as you would have had a right good laugh as the flight attendants rushed around with fire extinguishers trying to put it out.
She was arrested immediately after landing. :T

surely there are enough products out there to enable you to keep up ones nicotine levels to last a flight ...?
im not against smoking its up to the individual what they do- i used to work in bars where you could smoke at the bar etc but smoking inside what is efectively is a tin can is slightly unfair to those who don't smoke
the smell of stale ciggarette smoke lingers and if your sat next to someone whos been for a crafty one it can get quite nauseating i know i was on a flight in jan where it happened still they were also stoned and using a mobile phone most of the way during the flight so perhaps thought laws etc didnt concern them .perhaps they could have a smoking area on one of the wings - with a few tables and chairs althought i suspect the pressure would make you rather light headed
