I'm currently trying to convince both DH and DS to get rid of some of their ever expanding piles of junk and meeting with far too much resistance for my liking! I hate fiddling with the camera and stuff, drives me bananas but I must get on with it - have lots of wedding stuff that would probably sell quite well at this time of year.Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
Morning havent been on in a couple of days so have been catching up this morning.
Welcome mikon and well done for getting the ball rolling, i am pretty much at the same stage as you, have just changed my bank account and now plan to make contact with cccs, (dont knw why im delaying) suppose really im just s***scared!
Very interested in the token payments I thought you had to wait till you had actually started with cccs before sending these, I am really struggling this month to make my payments and am running about a week behind all due dates and i have had 3 phone calls this week could not believe how quick they contacted me honestly nothing is more that a week late so that has scared me a bit. have a big payment of £120 to make was going to send tomorrow but it does leave me with nothing for rest of week. Should I just send them a token payment then? and should i start sending all my creditors token payments even though I havent started cccs yet?
Sorry for long post! am going to clear out kids wardrobes to day and find lots of old clothes for ebay. Most of my baby equipment sold now through local free ads just a double buggy to go now and i put in a slide and climbing frame which they no longer need thats about all my big stuff then so hopefully will have enough to decorate my hall, I am quite proud of myself for funding this myself have never done that before it always been mr plastic fantastic hence the mess im in!
O dont think ive updated you all about the co-op yet but my paperwork and debit cards arrived on Friday:j so just the cheque books and pin numbers to come now, then the dreaded task of moving all the dds:eek:
Speak later guys and have a good Sunday.
Hi Andy
Completely agree with True and HH - send £1 tokens, showing you are willing but not able, and send them all the same amount so you are treating them equally.
This is the letter we used - its from a template on this site but I can't find the link so I'm just copying and pasting from our one!

Re:− Account/Reference Number
I would like to inform you that I am having difficulties raising the monthly repayment of £ due to add your bit here. I have however made a part payment of £ I am seeking help from Consumer Credit Counselling Service and intend to shortly produce a statement of affairs / repayment plan.
While I seek advice, can I ask you to suspend enforcement action on this account for at least 28 days, and also charges and interest? I am aware that you have a good reputation for going beyond the Banking Codes minimum requirements to deal sympathetically with individuals in trouble.
Can you also send me any policy documents / information leaflets etc you produce for someone in my circumstances?
Yours Faithfully

You've got to live while you get up and running with your dmp so tokens is the way to go.
Don't feel scared about phoning the lovely CCCS people, you will feel so much better when you do and you get things started.
Have a good day!

Made me smile Mama, another softie on the thread.:A I'm terrible at life laundry too, it's in and out of the recycle bag more times than doing the hokey cokey, in out in out! Funny all this debt and dmp stuff is having some positive impact on me too, been thinking about clutter, values and where I want to be etc. Too much time spend thinking of late but has its advantages:cool:
Survived my second Aldi shop. Got told off at the tills for putting something into a bag. Must do it at the packing shelf. This despite the fact he wasn't too organised and I was clearing the stuff that there was only ever one thing on the shelf. I would soooooooooooooooooo like to sit in on one of their training sessions.
Well done on the ebay posts folks, very productive. Right I'm off to spend the afternoon catching up with the day job admin, been pretty distracted lately with the finance stuff but I need to refocus and get some balance in all areas.
Catch you soon

Andy, you sound just like me! I am a recovering shopping addict with obsessive compulsiveness towards certain brands (boden, lellie kellie, joules etc I also used to get Gymboree shipped from USA!!!!) Because I was mainly an internet shopper, the habit was easier to break than I thought. I cancelled all catalogues, any that still come go to the bin without opening. I find it much harder to hand over cash than use even a debit card so if I feel the urge to shop online, I withdraw the cash and put it in a money box until I need it. I never bring any more cash than I need out with me. A few weeks ago on here I had a bit of a wobbly over a dress and some kiwi jam in a fancy jar. I resisted both and they are distant memories. You will get over the desire much quicker than you could pay it off!
If you have any other interests, maybe an old hobby that family life has caused you to neglect, now is the time to try it again!Paddle no. 12

Debt at LBM £23,0000 -
AndyD
If it is any help I have sent a few letters off over the past few days. I have attached the letter which was kindly given to me by the professor.
I also held a cremation in the back garden my Credit Cards have sadly passed away and I therefore burnt them. It was a great feeling as they went up in flames out of the ashes rose the new me someone that was going to live life to the full without credit. I am now living with the money that I have in my pocket and if I aint got it I aint going to buy it.
Anyway enough of the new me here is the letter and good luck.
Dear Sir/Madam
Account number: *******************
Since making the above mentioned agreement with you my circumstances have changed.
I do want to repay my debts but at the present time I am not in the position to pay the minimum monthly payments. I have recently contacted the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) who offer a non fee-charging Debt Management Plan, which I hope to start on June 1st.
In the interim month or so I shall make a token monthly payment(s) of £1.00 as a sign of good faith. As soon as I have updated my situation and the Debt Management Plan is fully set up I / CCCS will contact you again.
During this period, could you please freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.
As other people answer the telephone who are not aware of my situation, ie, my children. I would ask that all correspondence between us should be in writing.
I hope this is acceptable on a temporary basis.
Yours faithfully
Best wishes
