I was hoping to get a bit of advice -
Since starting my DMP through a lot of hard slog I've been able to increase the amount I pay and have also managed to knock off one or two of the smaller creditors. The result being that, in theory, I am now paying ALL of my creditors over the basic contractual amounts. On the whole most of them don't seem to be kicking up much of a fuss (yet) about me "no longer being in financial difficulty" and therefore them no longer needing to stop/reduce interest.
However, just had an odd call with CCCS. There is a chance my OH will be made redundant in the next few months. I just wanted to clear my mind that should that happen I'd be able to reduce my DMP payment. Of course she said yes entirely possible. But she also said that, putting that issue aside, as I could now reach my contractual payments I should no longer be on a DMP. Eh?!?! I pointed out to her that a) when I started the DMP I could no where near reach the contractual payments and b) surely if I came off the DMP they'd just start whacking interest etc. back on, putting me right back to the start again.
In the end we left it as it is, as I need to see how things go with my OH's job, but I'm now concerned that at some point the CCCS are going to tell me I have to come off the DMP. This has frustrated me as surely anyone on a DMP will eventually reach the point (be it after 5 months or 10 years) where you are paying the contractual amounts.
Would be v grateful if anyone can tell me if it is indeed the case that once you are (in theory) able to reach your minimum contractual payments you should come off the DMP? I just have this fear that if I do indeed come off it I'll be back to square one and only just paying interest every month and never getting anywhere - AGAIN!!!
Thank you all v much - and have a fab day.

Hi Fraggle and thanks for your post.
Hope you don’t mind me jumping onto this thread.
This doesn’t sound right, if you want to send us a private message with your client reference number I will get somebody to look into it and contact you.

That would totally negate the effect of your DMP. I also had some very weird info from CCCS when on a DMP (don't feed your adult children!!!) and phoned back and spoke to someone more senior who told me that the person who'd given me the first load of muppetry had got it wrong. So I would call back, ask to speak to someone senior and get the right information. Loads of peeps must get to that stage with one creditor or other, we don't see loads of posts of wholesale DMPs being given up, so I think the person at CCCS is looking literally at the situation and not sensibly. Makes going on a DMP a pretty useless option if they do that. keep us informed though, its one to watch.
Hi - thank you for this (and to Mat too). I managed to gather my courage and call back - and indeed spoke to someone else who told me that whilst it can be a bit of a grey area, in my case it was fine to carry on with the DMP. They said if perhaps someone only had one or two smaller creditors and you could meet those payments no problem then perhaps they'd recommend going it alone but generally it was fine to stay on the DMP.
PHEW! I can stop stressing now and try to get some work done today!
Have a lovely day all.

Hi
just thought i'd drop in. Been lurking reading the Orange side stuff with interest (not for me though) and just getting on with things.
Barclaycard, the horrible people, have yet to reply to my letter about the increase in interest. I hate them.
Everybody else has gone quiet. I quite miss my weekly Santander letters, I assume the computer is broken.
Had a funny chat with McHall, the debt collectors. They were pestering me with phonecalls (for those of you yet to be aquainted with them they send weird txt calls so you ring them back).
So i rang them and they wanted the princely sum of...........well it was above a fiver but below £7 (I won't say how much as it will identify me I fear)! I bet its taken more than that to sort it out with phonecalls to cccs, to them, between cccs and them. The agent was a little embarrassed to say the least.
Anyway
Keep on everybody.

Morning All
Sorry been AWOL, very busy at work and a couple of friends very ill. Things are moving rapidly here these days! Other than Egg selling my debt to Barclaycard I've heard nothing. Also pondered with the orange side, awesome information and stories to be read. Were I just starting off and knowing what I now know I'd have done it the orange way from the beginning. I think I've got between 2.5 and 3 years left on my DMP. 5 Preditors are still charging interest but overall interest is much lower than pre DMP. If I have status quo I'm going to continue with DMP, if the interest rubbish cranks up then I'm going orange all the way.
Hope everyone has a good day .

Hi all,
Just popping by, have visitors at the mo, and trying to spend as little as possible, i've had to ask for petrol money but hey am driving them all over the shop.
Anyways on to more important things like Barclaycard0 -
:eek:doh stupid computer................
rung them up in a determined manner to get them to reduce interest down etc etc, have they received my letter noooooooooo la la. Anyways i have a number into their department that deals with DMP's when going through a 3rd part eg CCCS, Payplan etc. They were helpful:eek: courteous and informative. If you'd like the number PM not sure if i'm allowed to post it up??
They won't reduce the interest as its a computer says NOOOOOOOOO thing, so i'm to CCCS to ask tehm to reduce it back down to original payment then hopefully the interest will drop off again and i'll be able to make the extra £8 ish to them online with no detriment to my other creditors well thats my plan.
Hope you are ok? Keep going paddlers !!0 -

Not sure where your coming from with Barclaycard. I cannot imagine CCCS reducing the payment to one creditor as they must be seen to be fair to all creditors. My payment to Barclaycard has remained the same and they have still introduced interest charges at a low rate after 6 months. I have reduced my DMP payments so will be interested to see if Barclaycard stop interest or increase it.
I wish you good luck and keep us posted on how things pan out.

Barclaycard seem to have no consistency at all, they took over my Egg card a couple of months ago and have not reinstated interest even though I'm paying more than 1% a month, watching with interest...........PPLBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.
