    Sorry to be a pain,

Is it ok to send my letters to a P O Box address - i.e. where the payment is normally sent ???

Thanks for your help in advance

    Hi Ted,

Not actually cancelled any direct debits yet, so it will probably be a supprise when they recieve the letter.

Thought I would send all letters out tomorrow morning by recorded delivery, then ring CCCS up on Tuesday for advice on how and when to stop my regular payments.

    Thanks again

Just flying through but wanted to say I'd call the bank and cancel DD tomorrow morning incase they decide to take them early when they get the letter.

hey all been back to lurking now for a good while instead of posting :o
things are going ok here we had a review and although things have gone up we have left the payment at the same £255 per month as the phone and letters had finally stopped.
only my hbos overdraft has been passed on and now our £10 per month goes to blair oliver & scott instead.

now the issue is our car needs mot in june and so far we already know brakes and new exhaust are a must, things are so tight we have not been able to put away for this and have about £50 set aside for it when its going to be much more.
can we miss a month? what would the consequences of this be?
the car is essential, without it my husband cannot get to work :(

i am so nervous about calling cccs to ask so i was hoping maybe someone here had beein in this position?

Correct me if I'm wrong everyone but when I started my DMP, I was told to stop my normal payments right away because I couldn't afford them. What I did was to make the suggested token payments suggested in my letters until the companies came back to me with something else.

You are going to get phonecalls and letters anyway until things settle (we all have advice on how to deal with THOSE), so you may as well pay what you can afford starting from now instead of making your hole deeper while they wait and decide what to accept.

Anyone else anything to add or suggest with regard to this?

    Debt at DMP start (1st Oct 10) £30,838k :(. Debt of DMP as of 11th May 12 £12,170k :o.
  • Hi all,

Just celebrated our 6month anniversary of cccs payments by sending letters to all creditors asking for interest/charges to be reduced or stopped....decided to pester them for a change!

Mephisa - kind of agree re the pay what you can idea - we too got told to offer tiny amounts whilst things got sorted but this just meant the debt grew. However if you weigh it all up with the interest they still keep adding regardless you'd be better saving some cash at the start and put it towards F&F's later maybe. wish we had done that.:T

Plan for now is to continue to pay what we can - our review worked out at an extra few quid with all the vat, fuel prices etc, so we can keep going for another year. Still hoping for a miracle to occur so we too can offer some F&Fs which seem popular on here lately.

Off to see what i can sell now as there is a car boot on tomorrow, keep smiling everyone :rotfl:

Hi - just to answer Louise - I've had to ask CCCS a few times now for reduced payment months and it's never been a problem. It does seem to result in a few phone calls (which can be upsetting when you've got yourself into that calm DMP place of things settling down and no calls etc.) but I have just been honest and explained the reasons and then said the normal payment will resume the following month. They don't like it, but lets be honest, these preditors don't like anything!! Bottom line is that it's better to get yourself sorted out and have a month off/lower the DMP than get yourself into mess again. CCCS will also, I'm sure, suggest that. They'll prob also suggest you just write to your creditors too to let them know. It's definitely doable...

    Hope that helps.
