Hi all.
A new passenger in the DMP boat here.
We tallied up our debts, sent all the letters off to creditors (there's a lot of them) and returned all the paperwork to CCCS. It honestly feels less stressful already although we know this isn't an easy route.
We heard back from MBNA very quickly - telling us to cut up our cards and not saying anything else really.
I fear lots of phone calls but I'm going to stand firm.
It's great to hear other people's stories, we feel less alone than we did, that's for sure.0 -

Good Luck Mikon I hope they sit up and take notice.
I sent one of your other letters to Post Office and as a result they refunded the two months late payment charges so a big thanks for that.:DXX
Still sorting out at West so may need another of your letters before long.DMP mutual support member 3970 -

I am only to happy to help. Whilst I want to pay my debts off I do want to stand up for my rights and help others. I must add 6 month ago I would never have dreamed that I would be helping others out.

Hello everyone, we have just made our first payment to the CCCS so have a long way to go but I'd be grateful for the benefit of everyones experience.
We wrote to all of our creditors about six weeks ago and have sent them all two monthly token payments with accompanying 'we're with the CCCS and our number is... letter. So far we have heard from Mint who have agreed to the plan, from MBNA who say they won't accept it but will stop interest in 28 days but no acknowledgement from the Halifax with regard to our letters or token payments for a personal loan and overdraft. The only thing we have received from them was a computerised letter yesterday with regard to the loan with a pay up or you die at dawn message. I feel much better now we have taken the step to go on a DMP but its still so stressful not knowing how creditors will react.
Can anyone find some words of comfort?0 -

Well Done and days when you get down remember you can beat it and one day you will be debt free.

Thanks everyone, its good to know you're all out there and so supportive of each other. Perhaps once the Halifax have received their first payment from the CCCS they will realise we are serious about sorting this debt out and fingers crossed they will react favourably. Our DMP is scheduled to last around 7 years and I would love to know if anyone has managed to get to the end of a DMP without a CCJ or Charging Order. This is such a scary time and with Christmas looming and no money for presents it could also be a bit depressing but I'm still glad we've taken this step and I'm sure someone on this site will have some good tips for a budget Christmas.
Thankagain everyone.0
