Nat west/RBS seem to terminate your account through a procedure which takes a couple of months, they eventually defaulted me, terminated me, closed the account and stopped interest, took a while and I did phone and complain but was told that it was their "procedure".
Hope everyone is well and paddling along
    laters
    Dopey
Hope you don't mind me asking but do you own your house?
Its just that I did the stupid thing of spending 3 hours searching about Nat West and DMP's and found that as suspected they are the worst ones for charging orders. In fact found very little positive about them.

Would be interested to know if they always take that course of action. This is typical of me to find the worst outcome possible about something. Not happy unless i've got something to worry about!!

  • Hi, I started with PayPlan, it has been two months- the experience is good so far...But the rate that I am paying, it will take me 10 years  so I have to look into making extra money, have a lump some and negotiate a settlement.

I think I shall join this thread just in case :p

Actually, 7 years - It will take me 7 years:eek:

In February I will come into some money- About £800 / Can I just go ahead and pay off one of my creditors or because I am with PayPlan, do I have to offer the money to all my creditiors? I much rather to do first one. Or maybe I should just keep it and try to make extra money and offer them some settlement after three/four years?

What would you do ? Many thanks...
    Don't forget smiling :):):)
  • Hi guys, been very busy and have given up smoking after 25 years, a month in and feel much better.
No DMP news apart from SCHITI morphing into OPUS!!! Maybe they are going to be OPUS DEI from The Da Vinci Code...........scary.
I'm still at no interest on my CCs and loan at 6.9% still and have so far paid off £5k, only £47k to go.........
Anyway hope all you lot are well and it seems we are all finding life on DMPs ok, I even managed to afford Take That tickets yesterday!!!

Want to be free, you have got to look at an F and F with your £800, I found this a while ago and think it's a good guide to offers:

Debt still with original creditor NO default = 90% or more
Debt with original creditor but with a default = 75% or more
Debt with 'in house' debt collectors of the original creditor = 60% or more
Debt with external debt collector however still property of original credit = 40% or more
Debt owned(purchased) by external debt collectors = 25% or more

    Cheers all. PP
LBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.

    (3 F & Fs down, 5 to go!) :T

Louby you answered your own question, you are looking for problems that you haven't got yet and might never have!!! Give yourself a break! Remember that there are thousands of successful DMPs that just paddle along, you tend to get the really big disasters reported somewhere but the successful paddling guys just do and it and never post on forums.
RBS/NAtwest don't reat everyone the same, none of the banks do cos they don't want to set any rules. They do have procedures though and they seem to be determined to follow them. I kept phoning and asking when they were going to stop interest and they told me exactly what they were going to do and they did it! I think Ted went through the same procedure. and yes we own our house. You can't get a charging order until you have a CCJ and then not paid the CCJ, so stop worrying.

    take care

  • Thanks PDD. Needed a strong talking to.:o
I agree that little treats mean so much more now. The other week it was a friends brthday and we all went out for a surprise get together for her and a meal (I never go out in the evenings as a bit of a home bird) Only £15 but I had the money from ironing so could afford it. In the past on the very rare occasion that we went out I would feel guilty as knew it would be adding to the OD therefore didn't enjoy it.

    Enjoy Take That!

  • och Louby, I can do the stern talking!!! really I learned so much in the last year about debt and the ramifications, and the biggest thing I learned is its not so bad and it takes a verrrry long time for the system to take you to court and there are huge obstacles in the way of that happening, especially if you make yourself and informed and non panicing person!

really the big bad creditors aren't nearly as powerful as they want you to believe, and once you get your head around that, life will get easier!
I'm boring you all but honestly knowledge is power!
