Thanks again everyone. So good to have found a thread I feel comfortable with and can benefit from the support of those who are sticking around for the long-haul.

Now, I think I'll celebrate my new job this weekend by ..... clearing out my back room. Oh how my life has changed!:o

I wish I knew about DMPs sooner than I did.

Hi Gibbs, SO agree with you, my balances would have been smaller and I'd have been well on my way to paying them off by now... it was the fear of what may happen to me which kept me borrowing more to stay afloat.... still, better now than never and I wouldn't have 'met' you lovely lot if I'd cleared it sooner :D

Same here, i'd had a look at DMPs about 9 months earlier (than I eventually started) ,before the Payday loans entered my sphere of stupidness.

I think it was Gods grand plan to teach me a lesson! (God says, " you know E2's BIG DEBT house of cards? I think I will let him carry on buliding it before I knock it down, really teach him a lesson!")

Hi Nitty Gritty. I'm not sure how far you are in to your DMP. WE are 3 months in and Nat West haven't stopped interest yet. My telephone banking branch were helpful though as waited until my name had come off my mum's accounts so that may have delayed it. I did send them a letter asking them to stop interest but nothing back from them apart from a default notice!
Has Natwest actually accepted your DMP amount but haven't frozen interest? Ours is still showing as pending.

    Hi

Thanks for the feedback. I just wonder if they have added it as a result of the revised terms and conditions. I am going to write to them and ask for an explanation and also ask if they would look again at stopping the interest. Whilst they are obliged to help people with financial difficulties. If that fails I will then speak with the Financial Ombudsman.

    Hi guys

Not a lot to report but now i've sorted out my CCCS statement and adjusted my figures to the correct amounts ( and i've included Nov payment even though its not gone yet) and I am back on track to be under £20k by the New Year!

Some people would probably think thats an astronomical amount of debt (well it is I suppose) but for me its amazing. On the 1st January 2011 I will owe less than £20,000.

Yes i'm wishing my life away I suppose but it's going in the right direction. Next target is £15k but that quite a way off.

A happy and contented E2 (unless the postman ruins my day)

Nat west/RBS seem to terminate your account through a procedure which takes a couple of months, they eventually defaulted me, terminated me, closed the account and stopped interest, took a while and I did phone and complain but was told that it was their "procedure".
Hope everyone is well and paddling along

Way to go E2. It keeps me going looking at balances and thinking right next month that leading number goes down by a digit and by the new year it will be this, next year that etc. As you say I know it's wishing time away but it's all a step closer. On that note best update signature as it is payday :)

Dopey, hope UE route going well. Just gonna pop over to the other website to will you on

  • thank you HH, its going very well, better than I expected and not nearly as stressful as expected, the secret is not to answer the phone, DCAs not nearly so keen to write down threats and lies as they are to shout them..............
