  • Well i've drafted my letters. One copy each to PO, Bank of Ireland customer services (who manage the PO) and to the chief exec of the BOI. I have written seperately to Buchanan clark & Wells giving them my payplan ref. Shall I include a copy of the letters I have written to the PO?
Unfortunately I can't print them as have no ink and its so bloomin expensive so have sent to myself to print at work tomorrow. Then will send recorded delivery.
    Thanks everyone. I couldn't manage without you.

  • Hi again,
Very happy with Payplan here. Barclays are our sticking point; despite accepting the dmp offer for the personal loan £1800 they rejected the od of £4000 and the Barclaycard of £4500 ... nearly everyone else is on board 3 payments in. Barclaycard are still questioning a space in our surname to stall things I think! Have yet to receive nasty calls or letters from the heavies! Seems barclays have handed the OD over CDCS (anyone have any experience of this dept?
Always glad to hear everyone fighting and cheerful!

    Hi LL,

As said try and hang on in there. Not sure about sending a copy of other letters sent, no harm i suppose but might confuse them! They are only of simple minds of course!:D

Let us know how you get on

  • OMG sent three of the letters today. I did put a copy in with the Collection agency letter so hope it doesn't confuse them:D

A bit of me is still feeling I should be more submissive as debt is ours but then don't want to be walked over. I honestly wouldn't be sleeping if it wasn't for you guys.

  • think how much you paid in interest in the past louby, think how fast the stacked up the interest when they sniffed you might be in trouble, think of the !!! they made of the economy, of pensions or endowment policies, then think what is best for you.............

The thing is it is your debt and you are dealing with it in a reasonable manner and all you require of them is that they deal with you in a reasonable manner as well, ie treat you fairly as per government guidelines. which means no scary lies in letters!!! and respect that you are trying to sort it out.
so go girl and get them!!!!

hugs to all, must dash just running through............

I don't see why you/we should be submissive, yes we've all acknowledged the debt is ours, hence wanting to do a DMP. So don't feel bad and no they should not walk over us, as we are taking control (well trying to) of our debt to them. They will get their money back, just not as quickly as if we put ourselves in even more debt. They'd get it back quicker if they all stopped charging interest to us. I'd really not want to work out how much interest I've paid them over the years, so refuse to feel bad about it now.

It was also far to easy for Barclaycard to keep giving more money to me to use. I think when I took out a card over 30 years ago, it might have had £500 limit, by the time I stopped using it in December the limit was £18,000. I would love to have met the person who ignored that offer being slowly built up over the years. I'm sure if I had to do something proactive, like signing a piece of paper everytime they upped it, I would not have had that limit, but because it just went on and I used it without thinking about the interest without having to do anything I'm where I am now. It was way to easy. Do you think because I signed onto BC only once, more than 30 years ago, it could be a UE debt if I persude it?:(

  • Hi everyone

I'm new here and have only recently started looking at all the debt management assistance. Previously my forum interest was Pet Insurance!!! Well ... we all have our faults.

Anyway, I haven't managed to read through it all but it seems as though there is a really strong level of support here and that's exactly what I need.

I commenced a DMP after being made unemployed and then unfortunately being forced off sick due to bullying. I was left with absolutely no money for 2 months and after previously being on a salary of £25,000 before my unemployment this was all becoming too much for me.

Feeling a failure and ready to shred myself (little joke to me!!), I made an appointment with Citizens Advice who were amazing and really helpful. I felt hope after the first meeting and dared to believe that I really could get out of this mess.

I am in the situation were I owe out around £22,000 and depressingly most of it was down to a good cause. Just after my hubbie and I got engaged, I left his job and went to study as a nurse. Selling his house, he moved in with me to cut costs but then we were down to one salary. Still we managed an an amazing wedding and several lovely holidays throughout the 4 years of study and while this might sound a little irresponsible, I will add in my defence that we never had much of a social life. Most of my money seemed to go on house bills, treatments to assist my Fibromyalgia so I could continue to work, food and clothes from such high class stores as Primark and Dunnes to support my appearance as a manager in control.

Anyway it all went wrong, when I got paid off my job of a lifetime without warning and went from £25,000 to dole in as many heartbeats. My husband, after 4 years of training, is now working as a nurse and that in itself, is a reward. I just can't help feeling its so unfair that you work so hard to further yourself just to end up nowhere and owing everything. Enough of the moaning - back to my story.

My hubbie and I keep our money entirely seperate and our arrangement is that he pays me an agreed sum to cover the bills every month.

I have been successfully on DMP for about 3 months or so now but I still feel that I'm living on the edge. I've just been told my job is being made redundant after only 3 months working here (am I having a bad life or what???) and all the jobs I look at are at least £3000 to £4000 less than what I'm on now.

I was wondering if anyone has had any success with writing back to their creditors with a revised Statement of Means in order to get the payments reduced again.

I also wondered if anyone has had any success at getting some of their debt written off on request? All of my creditors have agreed to suspend interest and charges at this time which is helping but I'm scared that by reducing my payments so that I can survive without getting in more debt, I'm just extending my misery - which at this stage - is looking at somewhere in and around the 12 year stage. Whew!

Any thoughts or words of wisdom? I really could do with some cheering up. Its all been such a struggle and my husband is such a private person with his own financial issues, that I really struggle to have anyone to talk to.

My parents come from that world where no-one had credit cards and if they knew the debt I was in with the money I have earned - they would be absolutely horrified. They already thought I was frivilous when I didn't save the way I should but I kept thinking I deserved little treats when I worked so hard ..... didn't I?

Also how on earth do you all get your little signatures sorted?
    Debt at DMP start (1st Oct 10) £30,838k :(. Debt of DMP as of 11th May 12 £12,170k :o.
