Sorry in advance as i'm afraid I need more advice.

I think we've made a mistake and I don't know why I haven't really thought it through till now. Anyway the facts are that most of our debt is in OH's name so the DMP is in his name. BUT the OD was the only thing in joint names.
Obviously the DMP takes all our income into account & also shows the whole OD as one of his debts. The thing is i've had a phone message from our old bank account manager today. It was too late to ring her back by the time I got in (only there till 4) but I assume she is going to bring up the fact that the Dmp is in John's name only. I'm not sure why she's not rung before.

She says to ring her urgently before the weekend. It's not an unpleasant message but what do I say? Should I have taken out a separate DMP? Is there anything I can do now? Why have I not thought about this before?
Unfortunately OH is away this week so I can't get him to ring Payplan and they would have gone home by now anyway.
Any advice as always gratefully received.

    ThanksXX

Ignore her totally, this is just another ploy to get you to pay money. They will sink very low. Try to think of yourself as a bold bad non-payer until the DMP settles down. This woman is just trying to get at the weak link (ie you), I bet she wants to suggest you set up a wee loan account to pay off the overdraft, if I had any money, I'd put in on it!!!!!

This is interesting, can I ask what bank? HSBC my old bank, who I have not used since March (did not close the account btw) when I left just under £5 in it, have sent me a letter today asking why my overdraft (that I had never ever used) is now overdrawn by £11 and they are going to review the overdraft facility. Now I know that all my DDs are coming out of my new account so why has the overdraft been used and by whom? I also have not had a statement for all these months. So will be phoning tomorrow to see what this is about. Sounds like banks are doing a trawl through.

I totally agree with Pure Dead Dopey and would just ignore her. We have not answered the phone at all but my OH is constantly getting text messages saying that he must contact the creditor immmediately or else! We haven't contacted anyone and now that our payment has gone off to them things seem to have settled a bit, so just hang in there;)

  • Seems mine was a DD that I had overlooked, from a company that should have contacted me before taking the money. So I have paid HSBC and closed the account. :o:o

    Hello!

How we all doing today? Just updated my signature after todays payment winged its way to CCCS and it is good to see that horrendous total head south, in fact, as long as the creditors play ball I will be below £20k at Christmas. A minor miracle in itself!

CCCs, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Fellow DMPers, thank you, thank you, thank you.

MSE thank you, I wish i'd listened when I first joined this wonderful place.

Long way to go still but, if it wasn't for this combination of people, I would be spiralling towards...........well.... divorce, bankruptcy, hell.

    Feeeeeeeeling good.

Goldfish are fine as well in case you were all wondering.

Well Nat West rang again and spoke to my son who was off school today. He told them to ring back at half 4. Anyway I rang when I got in but because I couldn't remember my security details they couldn't put me through!! I pointed out she wanted to speak to me and it must be before the weekend but they said she was on the other line. She didn't ring back so i'm none the wiser!!

Thanks for all your advice. I only rang because I wanted to know what she wanted. We've always had a good relationship with the bank but then on the other hand they encouraged us to take out large loans and months ago when we approached them for help they dismissed it and sid we were classed as good customers. How stupid are we. Of course we are good because we have paid them so much interest. We ended up in nearly £5000 more debt before we went on the DMP. Our own fault for digging our heads in the sand I know but better late than never I suppose.

I wonder what will happen next with Nat West as weeks ago she told OH that our account was being passed to another dept although she still would be our account manager??

As a result of my letters to various depts in the Post Office/BOI we had two identical pre printed letters today saying that our complaint would be dealt with. Just stop the interest please!

    Thanks again

    Hello everyone.

I am just about the embark on a DMP and to be honest it is a relief to be getting things in order at long last.

I have handed over about 18.000 to Greg Pen to manage - however, my 400 overdraft and my 500 natwest CC I tried to hand on to and deal with.

My personal adviser thinks I should just lump everything onto the dmp and start again with a clean slate and basically switch account to ThinkBank.

    Has anyone else done this?
It is a good move \ bank to go to as they do not charge you etc when you go over?

Not sure what the best thing to do is?

I am going to trail through he 185 pgs of posts now - see what is happening with everyone else’s DMP's

Thanks for your help everyone. Good Luck.

I'm sure others will be along soon to advise you but in the mean time.

If I've worked out what you have said you are paying a firm. No need to do this CCCS and PayPlan are free DMP managers. Not sure who Think Bank are, most of us have the most basic of accounts with banks. I have the Co Op Cashminder as an example, Nat West etc have basic accounts as well. Only thing to remember is, it has to be a bank you don't have a debt with or they will be able to access the money. You can run your own DMP this will mean you have to contact everyone but template letters are available. I like the safety net of Pay Plan. But I agree with your advisor lump everything together much easier. Good luck and check back to see what others will advise. They are very, very helpful here for dealing with different situations so everything will no doubt cover your situation.

    Hi Oh no not again

Got to agree with TDS n GR3

GP may have sold themselves to you as the perfect option but I use CCCS and I couldn't recommend them enough. Every penny goes to my creditors, I use Nationwide for my bank account and everything is going fine.

If you can think again about GP I would as your debt free date will be a lot sooner if all your payments go to paying your debt rather than some of it.

Have another think but if your comfortable with GP then you have to do what you think is the best for yourself.

If you have any worries, or problems with those goddam creditors then we are here to help (as much as we can on here).

Take care and don't be a stranger.
