I was anxious because I think we get in the mindset that whenever we have to confront our debt its usually been in conversation with a creditor or debt collector saying we are worthless scum because we made mistakes, or we were stupid, or life threw up its challenges like divorce, unemployment or whatever got us into this mess in the first place.

So when we ring CCCS, or Payplan or whoever is there to help us we still put up a barrier. We still expect the rug to be pulled from under us and to be back in the dark place of "no way out". Even though we won't be, even though we are moving towards our goal of DFW we still have that nagging doubt.

We all have to realise that by talking about our debt in this way they are there to help, not criticise, to advise, not belittle and in the end we will get there.

And I for one cannot thank CCCS enough.

    Hello

Just had my CCCS review, my payment has gone up slightly but that means my DFD has come down by two months.

I will have to budget slightly better I think but i'm pretty pleased with that. As long as the dreaded creditors play ball that is.........

Hows life for everyone in DMP land?

    Hi Eyeopener2

Can I ask why your payments went up? Did you have a change in circumstances an increase in income. My review is due shortly and I have had no changes to income so i am hoping everything remains the same.

I would be interested to find out why yours increased.

    Hi Mikon

We just went though every detail. I have all my spending on a spreadsheet now so could say exactly how much I spend. If nothing has changed then things will stay the same. It's just quick run through really so they can keep your creditors updated (but only if they ask apparently, they don't send out a new SOA to them automatically).

For example I had £11 for hairdressing but its been a while since ive been to a hairdresser ;-), so that went. Id over estimated gas but underestimated school expenses. It just all came out that my surplus was a little higher. Not a great deal higher.

its nothing to worry about at all.

Thanks for the response. I think my review will be simple. No pay rise, no extra income = no change. Apart from that all my creditors have put 1 yr plans in place except Argos they agreed a 6mth plan to be reviewed. So i think mine should be straight forward.

    Regards

When the Pay Plan lady did my plan I never gave a thought to little things like bus fares or hair cuts. But every month I'm so glad she added them. The little bit helps with other things when I don't get the hair cut, so I think I'll ask to keep them in. Anyone know when Pay Plan do their review? Only thing I had was a "congratulations on completeing your first 3 months" a couple of months ago when I logged into my account.

As I said earlier I have already decided not to reduce my DD for Gas and Electric. With VAT going up I think we will need the litle bit extra.

Ditto, although to be honest Payplan offered me a choice of £550 a month on my entire families outgoings and income or £700 a month just on mine, I took the £700 option but in hindsight I wish I'd gone with £550. The extra £150 a month would have been very useful over time especially as I've now got 3 DCAs offering F and Fs.

Can't wait for this months payment to go off from CCCS any day now so I can colour in another leaf on my money tree!

Had a letter from CCCS for a review. Tad nervous after Dopeys review. I intended to keep a spending log but haven't. Things are generally tight but doable but live in constant fear of the car going. Last time I discussed with them they said if it died I could get a car loan at a reasonable rate, like yeah, how exactly?! Still, am coming to the conclusion to try not to worry about things unless they happen. Please keep reminding me.

Going to have a another try to get Hellifax to pass me on to a DCA.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I like that line HH, "try not to worry about these things unless they actually happen"

I was like that with the review.....what if they rescind my DMP, what if they put my payments up so I can't afford it, what if my creditors decide to reinstate interest!

Daft really cos none of this has happened, only one could happen (interest one) but hasn't happened and probably won't for a while(hopefully never!).

Don't worry about your review, you will be fine.

  • Had a Formal Demand from Buchanan Clark & Wells on behalf of BOI ie OH's Post Office credit card. The letter says they have been told by BOI that there is no legitimate reason for our non payment! Thing is we have written personally and of course they would have had all the info from Pay Plan at the start. The words LEGAL PROCEEDINGS is in bold type.
Should we ring. Its an 0844 no which is expensive on our new tarrif (one of our money saving measures) or send the Mikon letter as on the forum last week?
I had written a second letter but that may not have reached them before this letter was sent.
OH is worried and being Saturday can't ring Pay Plan. Is this a standard letter or should we be very worried.
It asks us to call imediately.
    Thanks everyone

    Right.

FIrst of all, don't panic. This is just a bullying threat to make you break your DMP.

    DO NOT RING THEM!

First things first is to write a letter to BCW explaining that you are on a DMP with Payplan, ref number etc etc.

Secondly write a formal complaint to the Post Office saying you have done everything asked of you to address your debt problems, why are they being so obstructive etc etc.

Both letters send recorded delivery monday morning first thing.

Does the BCW letter say the ARE taking court action or they may consider court action? If its the latter then they are just using the usual bullying tactics (careful if you have goldfish they are precious ;-))

Do the above and see what happens, if this is par for the course (and theres no reason to doubt this at the moment) then there is very little to worry about and you will now pay BCW instead of the Post Office.

Keep us informed, and speak to Payplan, but do not let them bully you. Nothing will happen short term anyway.

And keep paying PayPlan. If the worst came to the worst and court action was to take place then you can show the judge what a bunch of morons/bullys/nast b&&&&&& the PO and BCW are. And the Judge will see you as someone trying to do there best in difficult circumstances.

I hate them, I really really hate them.
