  • Does anyone know if the fact that the Co Op cashminder card has the Visa logo on that it covers you when you buy things, bit like my old Barclaycard did? Reason for asking was I always used my BC for buying things because it had that protection and Watch Dog sites always advise using them for that reason, especially for flying. Obviously being on a DMP I'm only allowed a card like the Co Op one.
    :eek::eek::eek:
When I first started my DMP I needed a new fridge as the gremlins struck. Last night new, 5 month old fridge, had no light inside the fridge. I think the fridge is still working but am worried that if the light can go after 5 months, £11.00 to replace it, what next? With BC I was covered so am fingers crossing that the Visa logo on the cashminder might offer something as well.

    Hello

Well..afte PayDayUK decided to refer me to Mackenzie Hall I received an email asking me to contact them by phone, which I didn't, obviously, so I wrote a rather pleasant email (for me) just stating my position.

    CCCCS
    DMP
    ref
And the fact that I have instructed CCCS to pay them directly instead of PDUK (cccs will send the next 25th payment to them) as They had thoughtfully provided a ref number.

I also stated that there was little point in wasting each others time with phonecalls and letters as the only person who was going to make me pay anymore was a judge.

its been a week now and i've heard nothing from them, not a squeak.

I will never understand this DCA/creditor nonesense. its bizzare!

    Threat,threat,threat......silence.

Onwards and upwards, I hope everyones ok.

  • Thanks for that, hope I don't have to test it, seems better than nothing but not as cut and dried as a credit card would have been. Did have a piece of good news today. Gas & Electric bills came and both were in credit. They suggested I didn't ask for a refund and they would amend the monthly payment. Not on your nelly, thought I. I got the refunds and will be keeping the higher monthly DDs. No need paying less per month on a DMP, as I'm guessing the extra money could be put towards the creditors when the DMP is reassessed. This way if it happens in future I get a little bonus money every so often. Proving useful already as a colleague is leaving, so leaving present and meal need to be paid for and Xmas meal is already being mentioned in our office. I also need a new tyre for my back bicycle wheel before the weather turns.

  • Hello everyone, just popping in to say that things are relatively quiet for us at the moment apart from Santander who have not only NOT frozen interest on my CC but have upped it to 34.9  How are you expected to pay off these dreaded cards if they keep moving the goalposts??

Everything else just seems to be ticking over, is this the calm before the storm? I just have this uneasy feeling that things are going a bit too well but that could be down to me being paranoid (I hope):o

Hope that things are moving in the right direction for everyone;)

    Ellie xx
  • wow at the 50% offer! thats great if you had it, i had no idea dca's could just do that?

oh no ellie hope santander stop the interest soon! i was not aware they could put up your interest rate during dmp.

my hbos overdraft is still collecting me daily charges i had another letter on saturday saying so....
my mbna cc have cashed the token payment now i don't know if they can up my interest though as just before all this we had the option to opt out and cap interest rate but we would no longer have use of the card till balance was zero which is what we did?
planning to give my dad £300 of his £1k on 1st october rather than pay cccs £255 and start paying them on november 1st instead, will just do another round of token payments i think just to show i am willing.
  • Ellie

They can't put up your interest rate, you need to phone and refuse, they will then freeze at old rate and cancel the card (ie no further spending, as if). Bad enough that they won't reduce but they are simply not allowed to just up it. Good luck

    Mackenzie Hall

Well they are getting stroppy. After a week of silence I have received a email AND a letter on the same day.

The letter says that I will get a visit from some low life to discuss my debt. What is there to discuss? I owe an absolute fortune!

I will be taken to court and my earnings will be attached and possibly I will lose my home, my child and goldfish.

I MUST call them IMMEDIATELY or face serious consequences for ignoring my debt. I'm on a DMP muppet boys, i'm not ignoring it.

    Soooooooooo.

After being nice I have just put together a rather stinging letter saying that if they don't leave me alone, and deal with CCCS, I will report them to the OFT who have already threatened them with the removal of their Consumer Credit License

It never ends does it, but I will overcome.

  • Morning all

Glad to see that everyone is still plugging away!
My DMP has now been confirmed and the first payment goes out on the 1st Oct. I've had replies from Lloyds and Ikea saying that they won't accept the reduced payments as 'my account is in credit' - Lloyds, and 'query on my budget' - Ikea.

I get the query on the budget one - maybe they just need a bit more clarification, but the Lloyds one is ridiculous! My account is not in credit, it is overdrawn to the tune of several hundred!!! I'm hoping they will look at their records now and see this.

It's funny though, I'm already calmer than I have been in months or even years, I no longer fear the post arriving - in fact I scoop it up and open it immediately in case there's any progress made on arranging the payments (thanks to everyone on this forum, I know when to treat the threats as a joke and when to take them seriously, but thankfully haven't had any yet), and the best so far was that my car needed repairing yesterday, but I already had the money saved up in my emergency fund after just two months of my new budget!!! How cool is that - no credit cards needed! I've already had to say to two people that I don't own credit cards and it feels so liberating!

I know what you all mean about the calm before the storm though. Am wondering what will come next, but I know I can deal with it - the hardest part is done which was admitting that there was a problem.

Eyeopener - keep the goldfish safe!!!!
