Thanks for the advice Mikon, it is very much appreciated:T
  • Hi all old and newbies.

Things just ticking along here for me now. Well this week the CCCS will be paying my 6th payment it feels good!!

I am slightly worried about old habits creeping back though. I had my 1st full paycheck today not right again but the taxman will sort that out soon i hope.

As i said not wanting old habits to creap in, i desparetly want to go on a shopping splurge as the money is the bank, but now it is real money!!AHAHAaHH. ANy ideas how to remove the urge. so far i've not gone anywhere after work, done housework, walked the dog but surfed the net lusting for things. I need to work out a way to save as much as i can to my next payday and then pay off the debt instead.

Sorry for ramblings just struggling mentally today that i have been a absolute tit and would have money to save if i hadn't racked up so much debt on pointless carp!!

Bye for now, tea and cake i think! x

6 months is a significant achievement Gabriella, well done. House work and cooking are my distractions at the mo although I'm just 2.5 months in! Have been thinking of researching and planning holiday for the end of the DMP, that way it will hopefully feel like a 'slow' spend. Also been setting up spreadsheets calculating best and worst scenarios for paying mortgage off, eventually! Have you tried cruising the freebies board? Not sure if any of that helps?

Wee bit more good news from me. First Direct just called, they are going to reduce CC to 6.5%. So in total thats 8 onboard (2 charging reduced interest). 4 to go. Looks like the letter writting on Monday appears to be paying off.

    Evening

What a lovely evening it is at that. 2nd DMP payment has gone off to Creditors today via CCCS. Things are starting to settle down, still receiving the odd computer generated letter but it gets filed.

    TIP

Check your monthly statements and ensure they match up with what has been agreed via your DMP and they show your payments. As sometimes they do not for example they may agree to the sum and freeze interest but the statement may not show your payment and it may have charges applied. If this happens you will need to contact CCCS or the creditor as I have just done with NEXt. File your statements and keep them.

Morning all, we actually have sunshine today :j, its quite a rarity here.

LJM, I went camping for the first time ever last weekend and it wasnt so bad, I actually enjoyed it which really surprised me, it was very relaxing. Think you have to go with the attitude it is what it is and just relax and enjoy it. Where are you planning to go?

DS is at YMCA this week and is really enjoying it, so far has been on an adventure walk up the mountain, bouldering and today is going canoeing, comes home every day wet dirty smelly and very very happy, so so glad I decided to send him, if you remember I had a bit of a guilt trip before booking, but it has been totally worth it and he has had a tough wee year with one thing and another so he deserved it.

Must go tidy up then take DD and her friend to the park.

    Enjoy the weather everyone.

    Hi AndyD,

Well, Castlewellan Park wouldn't take a one night booking, Tollymore weren't answering their phone so we're heading a whole 6 miles to Gosford Forest Park:rotfl::rotfl:(we live on the Armagh/Down border) The best thing is my DH will be able to go back home for an hour or so in the evening to feed and walk the dogs!:rotfl::rotfl:

My fear is more to do with the family who is coming with us, to be honest:eek::eek: The husband is OK, the kids are OK but the wife, bless her, she talks and talks and talks and talks.......

    and never listens...

We had thunder today though, might get out of it yet.....

Glad to hear your son is having good time!

Hi LJM, yeah we tried Castlewellan and Tollymore too but they are both pretty much booked for weekends, we ended up going to a place called meelmore lodge, not far from the exit gate of tollymore about 5mins away from it was handy as you dont need to book. We're in Newcastle so didnt venture too far either but do plan to head up to north coast in August for a week........now that will be the real test.

Enjoy let us know how it goes.

Hi hitabrickwall and Welcome to the board. :) Sorry for not saying Hello sooner.

Sounds like you thought you were sorted with the DMP then the joint account came into play and set you back. Are you ok? Have you managed to get it sorted?

    Ted

    Hi Ted

I am seeing Natwest today about taking husbands name off joint account. I have told them we have marital problems (which I hate saying as we haven't). If they will not remove his name then I am hoping they will remove mine and h can set up a payment plan with them with me paying half to him.

I have just drafted my token payment letters to all creditors apart from the bank and just need to check I have all addresses correct before sending them off.

Once bank account is sorted I will then proceed with DMP but send token payments in the meantime.

    Thanks for asking x

Morning HBW. I think you would have to open 2 separate accounts. Do you have debts with Natwest? If so you need to think about them 'stealing' your money to 'offset' I would seriously advise you to contact the National Debtline helpline or CCCS before you take any action. Often better to do this so you can plan the strategy as things aren't easily undone. Banks have no such thing as loyalty so you need to make sure you look after yourself. I was completely upfront after 15 years of trouble free banking with First Direct and they rewarded me by taking away any remaining credit etc! I set up and account with the Coop and it was done within 3 days, very impressive.

  • I do have debts with natwest but do not want to include the joint overdraft in the dmp. I will be making payments as normal on my natwest debts in the meantime.

I have now drafted my token payment letters, do I just sign these as normal? I've seen posts telling people not to sign letters but is that just when they are going for unenforcement?

    Thanks
    Ellie:)

I think you may be considered jointly and separately liable for the overdraft unless your bank agree your husband can take it over. Good luck with it.

Hi hitabrickwall, you sound all organised today. Hope it goes well with Natwest. :D

Hello All, I need to find time to catch up with your posts and it's only going to get worse with the 'teens' off school and hovering around whilst I'm on line...so apologies beforehand for not being around.

    Hope you're all ok,

    Ted

Busy Bee then Teds. I'm going to Aldi later, always think of you when I'm in there ;-)

Upto you Ellie. I printed my name rather than signed as many people advise on here. The reason for this is incase they 'fiddle' your signature if you raised a CCA re enforceability at a later stage. I don't intend to do this and wish to pay back the full debt but that will depend on how reasonable the Preditors are going to be with me in the long term.

    HTH.

I'm the resident stalker here these days. Don't usually get opportunity to post much so I'm making the most of quieter times!

    Have a good day all
