I can see what you're trying to achieve Mikon and I think its very admirable
but as Prof Pat says, let CCCS deal with it. It probably won't be very long until you hear from the DCA, but if you're concerned Barclays may be able to tell you who they are passing it to and then CCCS can make contact on your behalf. HSBC did exactly the same to me with my overdraft, so please don't worry - it really is a step in the right direction

I see where you & the professor are coming from. But when I contacted CCCS the lady said just contact us again when you receive the details of the DCA. So I am slightly concerned that CCCS do not seem that concerned. That is why I thought about the letter. The DCA I think maybe their inhouse debt recovery team. They do not mention anything about an external organisation.

Mikon
Barclays are pressurising you into paying more than you can afford and to be outside the DMP. CCCS deal with these things all the time just do as they say.
If the DCA rings just refer them to CCCS as you would any other creditor.

You may!! I'm trying to keep a tab on how much money I'm saving by not drinking basically - couldn't think of a better name for the "pot" though lol xPaddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -

I was terrified at the prospect of a DCA in the early days but now I look forward to hearing from them because they are much more straightforward to deal with - they have no "termination" procedures or whatever - which is why I imagine CCCS aren't concerned. Maybe give Barclays a call tomorrow to find out where they are passing the debt onto and to give you some peace of mind?Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
Mikon - just thought - there is an "Ask a CCCS Counsellor a Question" thread on the top of the debt free wannabe page, maybe try there for a quicker answer?Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840

Hi
I have scanned the Barclays letter and emailed it to CCCS to ask what action needs to be taken. I may ring Barclays tomorrow to find out who and when they plan to pass the debt over.
One other question is what is F & F and how is it worked out?
Regards
Mikon

Full and final settlement.
Basically you make the creditor an offer to totally clear the debt, they accept or refuse/barter.
There are no real 'rules' but if you are dealing with a DCA you start at around 30%, if it's the original CC then more likely 60/70%.
Most of us on here are hoping to save up enough to make some F and Fs at some stage in the future.
I believe you have to have been on a DMP/made no payments, etc for at least 6 months before you can make an offer.
Unfortunately, any default they have given you still stays on your credit file.
Hope this helps. PPLBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.
