well done Mikon, you're doing everything you can to sort out your debts, so a pat on the back. Try and relax as it's not worth your health.More than Two Years in

Pure Dead Dopey Thank you.
You know what before I started this I could not understand how people survived without credit. But I am now surviving and at this point in time its great to know I am spending my money and budgeting which keeps you very much focused. It can be done and I am living proof that you can live within your means. I am now watching what I spend and you know what I am actually saving money rather than having this blassay attitude of just taking the expensive one. I am finding that the cheaper products do not compromise on quality or taste if you shop around. My driving has improved and I am getting more miles to the gallon so instead of filling up every 6 days I am filling up every 8 days now and thats because my driving style has changed which means I am making a saving.
Anyway thats my ramble for today. Good Luck and don't forget to vote....Mikon Riding the DMP Rollercoaster full of ups and downs but i will get to the end. :T:j

Hi True, been reading your posts on another thread and am going to see if I can get my budget down to the same, initially just for one week starting today! Do you include packed lunches in that and would you say it's the same for 1 adult and 2 ravenous teenagers or would you add another fiver on? Been making lots of soups, curries and pasta recently which is helping as I can freeze half....
Hi Teddy, out of my £50 budget, £30 is spent on food (including lunches for DB and DH) and the other £20 is vet stuff/clothes/cleaning products etc. My top tip for getting your spend down is to decrease it bit by bit, say by a fiver a week until you are at a level that you like. I started out spending at least £80 a week on food and then chipped away until I was happy with the balance between the quality of the food and the amount of money I was spending.
Things like potatoes - buying the big bag of Tesco value is much better than the smaller bags of even Tesco own brand because you're guaranteed to have at least 4 or 5 big spuds you can use for jackets. Whole chickens - Tesco value again (my conscience screams free range at me, but I can't save the chickens while I'm broke). But coffee? Douwe Egberts and Andrex loo roll - because its false economy to have bad quality coffee and loo roll.
Hope that helps - just yell if you have any other questionsPaddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
I voted early, my degree is history, so know well what women went through to get the vote, so always make use, although I live in a so called "safe seat", at least I have registered my vote.
It will get easier, we're now 4 months in and it is getting easier, I forget sometimes, just for a moment or two................More than Two Years in

I live in one of those "safe seats" too - thoroughly unhappy that its safe for (IMO) wrong party but hey ho, my vote has also been registered, and my sisters as I was nominated proxy for her.
Do you really get to push it that far to the back of your mind? I'd love to be able to do that...Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
I'm sulking a bit tonight I'm afraid peeps, had to chuck all the lovely letters I wrote offering real money payments and print the old "here have a quid" ones again
oh well, hopefully the car will soon be fixed (if not sold) and I can go DMP proper
. Have been having a fiddle with the number and I'm hoping (really, really hoping) that next month I'll be able to send a minimum of £5 to each instead of just £1. I think they must all be really fed up with me, even CrapOne have stopped calling!

Yes True I do put it to the back of my mind, I've done/am doing everything I can save selling my body (and I can't see anyone buying that lol). If something crops up and I have to deal, I deal but after that I really try just to let it lie. It is not worth health, its only money and I have great hopes of being able to CCA the lot one fine day. I look forward to it immensely!!!!More than Two Years in
