Good idea in theory but research tells me that in practise the palm side is the worst possible area to have a tattoo and one should only get the top and sides of the ring finger done.:)

    Bang goes another cunning plan...

Your choice lass, but personally I'd hate it. A ring is solid, there's weight to it, a tattoo seems a little too much like branding cattle to me.

(Probably not the best comparison to use, sorry, hehe)

I've just googled them as I wasn't sure what they'd look like. I do like tattoo's, but I haven't found one of these that doesn't look awful yet.

Just had a look too, and without exception they look like they've been drawn on in felt tip pen, by a five year old :)

The only half decent thng that came up on google image wasn't a finger tattoo at all, but two semi circles, one on each person's arm that came together to make a full design. Maybe look towards that - an arm (or other area) tattoo design that can be put together to show your roman numeral date when you're together and completed?

err.....who said we were not getting rings as well?

we are- so the tattoo can stay hidden if need be. however as explained I have a manual job and will not be able to wear a ring most of the time.

Oooh, this thread reminds me of when I was 16 - had a very odd boyfriend who decided to have my name (in my hand writing!) tattooed on his leg. I was mortified. Two months later it turned green, four months later he dumped me. About five years after this I bumped into some old school friends who said that the chap had had some difficulties with the ladies due to my name being imprinted on him. Revenge, as they say, is sweet. I wonder if it's still there now, some 12 years later?

Anyway! Good luck OP if you do decide to get it done and congrats on the forthcoming wedding. It goes without saying to be sure to visit a good tattooist (personal recommendations etc).

Yes- will need to look into this properly- lets just say that tattoo parlours are not exactly a place I frequent - i wouldn't know a good one from a bad at the moment!

Personal recommendations are the best way to go then I would say tabskitten. Ask about. Be mindful of costs but do not let it influence too much. We have several tatooists in my town and the cheapest ones are often the worse (see my above post and the 'green' tatooo!) Feel free to visit a few and chat to some of the tattooists and explain excatly what you want. You need to be 100% comfortable.

    Good luck!
