Stick with your tommies and cumbers in them, and you can't go far wrong (unless you have more than one cucumber plant, when you'll be loused out with them, and not letting anyone leave the house without taking at least a couple of cucumber with them!)

Just been and used Tesco for the first time since the launch of the scheme. Got 2 points for using a Tesco bag for life and a large re-useable french bag. I think I should have got more points for they took the amount of at least 5 carrier bags.
On my receipt I got a line saying bag re-use 2 @ £0.00 under the total to pay line. Then on the clubcard statement bit at the bottom it says, ....Includes Green clubcard bag re-use and then 2 points. My grand total at the bottom has a line underneath for green points and it's zero though today. I suppose this will show next visit.
I also like to pack meat and fish seperately for hygiene reasons, so they should really allow points for that.
Maybe they will amend the scheme as time goes by.
I nearly always use my own bags so it's nice to get some points back for it. The cashier said she had noticed more people were now bringing their own bags since the green points started and the girl in front of me was using old sainsbury ones too.
Next time I'm in there with my trolley, I will leave the trolley hung on the hook and pack into old carriers and then pack my trolley near the door. At least then you don't get rushed through and can pack your stuff properly in the trolley. Time to fill it with old Tesco carriers!
Time will tell eh?A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0 -
Mine worked okay today. I only had a few things and before the cashier could grab a bag, I said I would like to use my own!
The exact wording on my receipt was
BAG RE-USE 0.00

Ok so if no one is issuing them how can you bring your own? Its not just carrier bags that are causing a problem its alsorts of rubbish. All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -
arfabrane wrote:I think this move should be applauded, and I'm sure Tesco is losing money by doing so (in the short term anyway) - after all, 1 point is a penny, and I'm sure Tesco doesn't pay anywhere near as much as a penny per bag from the suppliers. And that's before you consider the fact they will also pay out for using non Tesco bags, and not forgetting the clubcard deals ....
I have to agree Tesco has gone downhill though, but I reckon they are becoming victims of their own success. After all, they can only keep their shelves stocked if the suppliers can cope with the ever increasing demand. And it's not just down to the fact that Tesco is growing in relation to other supermarkets, it's also the fact that the population as a whole is becoming far more dependent on readily available foods. After all, how many people here grow their own fruit and veg? When I was a nipper, my father had an allotment always stocked with home grown goodies. Now, it's too much hassle, and not much cheaper to grow your own anyway. The same is true of many other things - I reckon it is cheaper to go and buy a cake than bake one yourself. Of course, the explosion in population (both the normal increase in populous combined with the influx of migrant workers) puts even more strain on the resources available.
Just random musings ....
I am shocked as to how downhill Tescos have gotten. They used to have the best customer service and it as always the best supermarket. You go in sometimes and there is hardly anyone in there. Been in the one near me once and the poor girl was on her own no security guard. I was worried for the poor girl. All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -

I went to Tesco express for 3 x 4 pints of milk. When the check-out assistant put them in a bag I told him I didn't want the bag because I wanted the extra point. He said, "oh you don't get points for not using a bag, it's only when you re-use an old bag." I told him that couldn't possibly be the case because Paul Daniels uses a hat and Alan Titchmarsh uses a wheel barrow. The assistant on the next till piped up, "Yes, but they still put their shopping in SOMETHING." So I took one of the bottles out of the carrier bag and put it in my handbag, 'cause that was putting it in SOMETHING to get my extra point. :T
....Then I took the other 2 bottles in the new carrier bag.
It's crazy!Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in.0 -
I decided to be picky yesterday, used 2 old bags and got not points so went to customer services and asked for them, felt a bit silly making a fuss for only 2 points but it's the principle!0

I disagree, I would always think twice about spending 10p on a bag. I used 20 tesco bags for my last shop, that's £2.00! It would soon mount up.
John_T doesn't sound like a proper MSE!!

Slightly off topic, and hope I'm not in the wrong place, but I'm sure it was this thread where someone was asking where they could buy the big trolley bags that clip inside the trolley?
Just to say I saw some yesterday on the Natural Collection website - about £10 each, but 100% cotton canvas and machine washable, so should last for ages.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0
