  • I went to Tesco express for 3 x 4 pints of milk. When the check-out assistant put them in a bag I told him I didn't want the bag because I wanted the extra point. He said, "oh you don't get points for not using a bag, it's only when you re-use an old bag." I told him that couldn't possibly be the case because Paul Daniels uses a hat and Alan Titchmarsh uses a wheel barrow. The assistant on the next till piped up, "Yes, but they still put their shopping in SOMETHING." So I took one of the bottles out of the carrier bag and put it in my handbag, 'cause that was putting it in SOMETHING to get my extra point. :T
....Then I took the other 2 bottles in the new carrier bag.
    It's crazy!
At Tesco in Aylesbury, they give points for not using a bag at all.... I bought a pair of jeans for my son, didn't use a bag and got 5 green points on my card. In clubcard deals thats 20p... the jeans only cost £1...bargain!:D

Hmmm Im confused.. Yesterday at Tesco the woman on the checkout said, that if I bought the reusable bags (10p) I'd get a point.. (which i did)

Sooo.. I was thinking.. If I bought 10 bags each time I shopped (£1) I'd get 10 points.. I would have to spend £10 to get that normally..

I thought I could do that each time I went (to get extra points) Until they said.. "LOOK lady! You must have 200 bags now surely??" .. haha

and the extra points would be worth 4x as much when used on Tesco deals.

Is that right? or have i got it completely wrong..

Sounds right ... BUT if you reuse the bag you'll get the points and don't have to spend 10p every time:D

I have been to Tesco three times since they introduced green points and this is the first time I remebered to take my Sainsbury's plastic basket and a shopping bag - what did I get for doing this? Precisely nowt! Just a big fat 0 next to my green points so off I trotted to C/S - luckily there was no queue but the 'lovely' (not) C/S lady gave some vague excuse well wasnt you asked what you were using - no! She reluctantly looked in my trolley and said 1 bag 1 box so gave me 2 points - wow!!!!! What shall I spend my 2 points on?

The SA I used today is just lovely. She asked how many bags I had (before I even packed) and tapped it in, and there they were! No problem at all.

  • I have been recycling my bags too went to Thorpe Park last week and the library and got given quite small bags so I use alot more. The cashiers have been great - I tell them how many bags and they simply add the points on. Excellent idea - Welshy x

  • Hi
My local store have told me that the maximum green points you can earn is three no matter how many bags you reuse. It dosen't say that on any of their literature either in store or leaflets they have sent me. Today I rang Tesco clubcard to query this and one of their advisors (who was as confused as me) told me it the terms were unclear but she did find something that said it was a maximum of three points. Surely Tesco is false advertising if it is telling their stores that it is a maximum of three points but not their customers. Anyone else had this problem or knows what I should do next?
