Today i received a letter from the council that could be related to the NoSP.

I have been on the council transfer list for over 2 years on a cat B priority. They have now downgraded me to a Category C.

Confused. Did you write this letter?

I don't understand why you would receive a letter like this letter from anyone.

He was waiting for me one morning at the bottom of the stairs(not drunk) and said 'cant you walk down those stair a little quieter because your waking me up every morning'. to which I replied 'I go to work every day and pay tax that give you the power to spend your benits, that I contribute too, on Special Brew everyday- you should be thanking me not bothering me' to which he said 'we will see about that wont we.' as I walk off.

It's way too late now, but you clearly have difficult neighbours. You really should have just taken the high ground and responded along the lines of "I'll try to be more quiet in future".

Although I'm sure you have been taking care to be quiet, I wouldnt underestimate how much noise can travel in flats. Even if he was just making it up, your response was not going to help anyone, least of all yourself. It was only going to promote agitation. Either ignoring him, or being polite may have at least appeased him a little. As it is, all you served to do was give him a reason to dislike you and promote a "tit for tat" attitude.

Perhaps this is something you should bear in mind in future once this is all settled.

And for the record, I'm not saying it's easy to act this way, but if it's a quiet life you're after then I would recommend this approach.

    That letter is confusing.

"You have been moved into Band C with an active day of.. "

    Then it says:

"The reason for your change in banding is: [blah blah], not suffering anti-social behaviour serious enough to warrant meeting the criteria for Band C."

Do they mean Band B in that paragraph? Else you'd be dropping to Band D.

I cant figure the letter myself. However the letter demonstrates there hast in putting things together to have a go at me. . They obviously haven’t proof read before sending out.

What is my best course of action do you think? Should i write to them pointing out the letter makes no sense whatsoever or should i let it ride for now? I don’t want to open to many fronts up with them as i feel they will try to wear me down so i make mistakes.

Are you beginning to see what is happening here or am i on a paranoia?

I personally think that you have to reply to this nonsensical letter. Keep your letter polite and to the point though, and avoid winding them up - remember any letters might one day appear before a tribunal or a judge, and you wish to look like the aggrieved person (which you certainly are, in my opinion).

As well, it looks as though your main reason for wishing to move is to be nearer your family. The re-classification has nothing to do with this.

As an aside, is it not possible to try for a private swop to the other side of town?

Thank you for your excellent advice. To be honest i certainly do not wish to come over as aggressive, but thank you for pointing out i am . Not trying to justify but I’m pretty emotionally charged with this issue. The sleep pattern is all over the place and cannot think of anything else but losing my home. If that happens at 55 yrears old it would have a devastating effect.

I am thinking i should move out of here temporarily to cover my back until the NoSP is sorted. Do u know if there are any legalities to their advantage if i did?

I have tried the Private swap route twice in the last 12 months without success. There is a bidding system in operation with relocating via the Council that people tend to use rather than seek Private arrangements. with other council tenants. .
