Have just made the nut butter and nomnom to pinch a well used phrase. That is one that will carry on post planner. Am going to make tangy bean pate tomorrow this will be my 2nd batch:o but i am blaming Weezl entirely as she posted portion sizes in metric (my excuse and sticking with it no matter what) and i dont know that 25g isnt over 1/4 of the dish do i?:):) oops Does anyone know if this can be frozen ok?
Also doing the bacon pudding and this will also be my first time for doing it so good luck to us all. I am going to use a pyrex bowl and a pan of water as i dont have a SC.
Arty your pics look great and i am also pleased to see that your confidence is growing daily you can be Shirleys inspiration (no pressure then):T

I haven't made the tangy bean pate ... YET ;)
But I would deffo have to freeze it, as there is no way I would be able to use it all up before it went off :(
I dont see why it couldn't be frozen... maybe in protion sizes ? ;)

Do you have any pyrex type bowls at all ?

Or maybe even a pyrex jug would work ??

I have a large glass pryex dish and a glass jug, do you think they will work?
    Thanks xx
Shanks : - the bean pate freezes nicely, i've just put a load in the freezer.

Oh and defrosts fine, i think it tastes even yummier .

Dear bread strugglers, I tried for nearly six months to make bread we were all happy to eat. Some of what I made was edible, some even nice, but what I needed was something that we could use to make sandwiches the children would eat. I think homemade bread is often a little heavier than shop bought and some of us struggle with it. I now use the recipe I am going to show below. It's not as frugal as the no knead due to the added extras, but it is much more like a shop bought loaf and I am adding it to the thread for those people who are finding other types of home made bread hard going. I can only say, it worked for me.

    for one loaf
-1 cup plus 1 tbsp water, very hot out of tap
-1 tbsp liquid honey (melt hard honey in microwave it you don't have liquid)
    -1/8 tsp lemon juice
-1 tbsp margarine (break into little pieces to add into machine)
    -1 1/2 tsp salt
-1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
    -1 1/2 cups white flour
-1 tbsp brown sugar ( you can omit this or use this and not the honey)
    -1 tbsp yeast (fast sort)
I take the water and add the margarine, salt, honey and lemon juice to it. Stir to dissolve everything a bit.
In a separate bowl combine the flours and the yeast.
Let the water cool to warm, then add gradually to the flour. The dough should come away from the sides of the bowl and fell soft and warm but not sticky. If the dough is stiff or not picking up all the flour easily, it needs more liquid, add a little at a time slowly, if it becomes sticky, it will just need a little more flour on the board when you knead it.
Knead the dough for 2 mins. It will feel soft and stretchy and be a pleasure to knead.
Place the dough back in the bowl and allow it to rise for about 1 1/2 hrs until it has doubled in size.
Punch the dough down, literllay, and shape it to fit a greased loaf tin and allow to rise an hour more in the tin ( at least)
Bake in a 375 f oven for 25-35 mins ( til just starting to be vaguely brown)
    Nom!
there's a picture here of the same loaf, I think made in a bread maker.
EDIT: I realised you dont have brown flour, so I am making an all white one as we speak and will edit further to report on this!
OMG!! this is stunning. I know most home bread makers aren't trying to replicate store bought bread, however the white loaf I just made is the closest thing to store bakery bread I have ever made. If that is the type of bread you want/need to make, then this is the recipe for you. I am going to have to beat the step kids ( who spend half the week at mum's eating prepared stuff) off with a stick :-)

Completely off topic, today I got free zucchini at the thrift store, how cool is that? ( you are the only people I know of who might be as excited as I was by this !!!). They didnt have any food processors though, maybe next week :)
Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.

I think both would work fine... but you might need to be quite inventive with how you cover it, so it doesnt dry out, if you know what I mean....
I need to go and look at the proper recipe to see what size pudding basin Weezl uses.... 2 secs, and I will be back :)

From the picture on Weezl's blog.... the pudding looks like it was made in a 17cm / 7in diameter bowl.... but I may be wrong :o
If your large pyrex dish is about this size then it should work... as would a pyrex jug, if it has a similar diameter.
Sorry, its not much help... but hopefully you know what I mean :o:D
