Afters???? ....well he has an (off plan) easter egg so if thats what you mean???:D:A

Allegra I found that portion huge but mr arty said he could of done with a little bit more so what I (and probably shirl) has to do is portion is less equally and give more to the men (as much as it pains me to say that!!!:rotfl:)

Weezl thanks for doing the bread video-cant wait to nose at your house more :rotfl::rotfl: and pick up valuable bread techniques:D

Er, yes, of course that's what I meant :A;) Speaking of Easter chocolate, some determined rummaging unearthed a packet of walnut whip in the cupboard which really hit the spot tonight :)

Afraid that's the law of the jungle, Arty ! Big bear gets more food than the little bear - cos big bear needs it to stay big and strong. I don't have a problem with that - but chez !!!!!! and Allegra's we're equally big so we get the same amount of food. And DD gets extra cos she'd eat us if she didn't, or so it sometimes seems ! will measure my Pyrex that I do the onion tart in in the morning. Haven't done any of the pies/puddings, mostly because I've never steamed a pudding in my life and it scares me AND I wouldn't have a clue what sort of dish to do it in, not owning a pudding basin...

Well I haven't accosted any more Bobs today! :)

I make my onion tart in a 9 inch tart tin. If I remember correctly the mixture is just slightly too much for this size but don't think it would stretch to a 10 inch.

We had the pasta amatriciana again at weekend. Yummy.

We've just had cornbeef pie - yummy. In a weezl inspired moment I subbed some of the butter for oil. I can see what other's mean about the rolling out issues, even just a 5th oil and I could feel a difference. So rather than chill it in the fridge I chilled it in the freezer for 10 - 15 mins before rolling out (always do this between 2 sheets of cling). Voila - well behaved pastry and it had lovely texture too.

I think I will try this .... I only need to get walnuts, as I have everything else in already :D
    Peas are soaking already ;)
I am doing the full batch, and will freeze 3 portions :)

    YES MUM!!

Thanks for the recipe. I have all the ingredients (assuming white basmatic rice is ok to use) apart from balsamic vinegar. Do you think this is essential? I have red wine, cider and malt vinegar, do you think I can substitute any of these?

Maybe either the cider or red wine vinegar, reduced down a bit ?

All this frugalising is definatley rubbing off on me :D
I forgot to buy some creme fraiche at the shops today, for some carrot and corriander soup.
Instead I used milk powder... and although I did use quite alot, so that taste was not compromised, it works out a fraction of the cost of the creme fraiche :D Happy days :D
And I have also just made a massive pot of veggie chilli, for the freezer.

Aless the pudding is nothing to be scared of. I'd never done one either until yesterday, but it turned out fine and was actually very easy. You just need to remember to start early.

I'm glad I gave it a go because I think it's something that could be made with all kinds of different fillings.

hmmm, any idea of what i can use for a pudding dish? Was thinking of making the bacon and onion dish tomorrow.
I don't have a pudding dish and never made a pudding like this before.
    Any ideas anyone?

Do you have any pyrex type bowls at all ?

Or maybe even a pyrex jug would work ??
