    Thanks for that Shanks.

I just have one more question then I'll shrink quietly away. Why does the porridge have oil in it?

    Hi Cazzdevil,

I think (and someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure) it is because the planner is nutritionally balanced and the oil will be needed for vital calories/fat/nutrients for the day. I hope that makes sense :o This is my understanding of it anyway :)

hello cazz and kezlou, how lovely to see you both return :) :T:T:T:T

we definitely always have tasks here at the ministry of food dontcha know ;) but we shall try too to always have fun here and recognise that everyone has their own real life things which are more important.

Cazz and Kez I'd indeedy value your help, but not exactly sure what sort of things you like doing and are good at, but if you fancied saying things you're keen on and are good at it'd really help :)

skills like proof-reading, html, recipe reading and tweaking, shopping list making, google-fingers for internet researching, (the dreaded 's' word) spreadsheets....

Auditbabe hello I'm sorry I didn't talk to you yesterday I was feeling rough and skimming :) I would like to have a skypemeet about the project soon and a minutes taker would indeedy be useful. (I got into a panic and said no because I was worried I'd said some personal things on skype about my children, and didn't want it to go on t'interweb, but of course we don't have to publish anything do we, d'oh!) so in summary, yes please if you'd still like to! Are you on skype at all?

Yes I'm already on skype I'll send you my name as I'm not to skilful regarding it

we can go more in that sylistic direction sian (not that I think you were telling me to or saying anything was 'less than' about CFR or anything, just I'd like the site to be as visually yummy as it can be, and I have seen that trend of food blogs myself and wondered if people might want CFR to be a bit prettier.:)

Thing is, I only have DH here, and he always masculinifies the site, cos when I go too pretty he wrinkles his nose...

But then (sadly) most recipe sites do have a female audience, so I have wondered.

Anyway, sian as I know you are a reader of foodie sites I would welcome your thoughts on CFRs aesthetic :)

Also about time on the weekend, thank you for that offer, there is something you'd be great at (just go do ferg's tea tho first)

I think the aesthetic or CFR is great, you are a totally different type of site and arent selling the same thing. You want it to be in those very foodie colours not garish ones. Your photos particularly are yummy, especially that red pepper tart. My original comment was never meant to be a criticism of CFR, more how ridiculous I thought the site was in contrast with its unashamed decadence (I love it but it makes me yearn!). I went to get stuff to make those brownies and for the initial outlay it was about £8  There are things left over to be used another day but I would not be surprised if they cost me £5 for a 9inch square tin and a couple of mini loaf tins for housies to try. Obscene but a treat I guess. They taste pretty darned good and I think may be boy-impressing

I would love to know what this job is which I could do :)

I have discovered that I am allergic to uncooked cherries :( , make me go all itchy so I think I shall have to make a pie or some jam or something with the ones I picked the other day. Any ideas (Lesley, I am looking at you WI lady! :) )

    Love and hugs to all!

Sian you could try a cherry clafoutis or there is a lovely looking cherry tart in this month's Good Food Magazine. Cherry pie is always a good bet too, very twin peaks

Have you tried whizzing them in the microwave briefly? OH has the same problem and I've found I can do it so that he doesn't get the reaction but they still taste pretty much like raw cherries rather than cooked ones.

Morning all, Cazz please don't shrink away, I read your list of useful skills with great glee! Are you able to skype us at all, it is often an easier way to share tasks as there are some restrictions on MSE and there is a file sharing system :) Re: the oil (you're going to wish you hadn't asked!) nutritional benefits: makes the breakfast contain omegas 3 and 9, vitamin E and more energy to keep jenny and jason able to concentrate at school (breakfasts of less than 250 cals have been found to impede concentration) also fat creates a feeling of fullness, DH and I experimented with this one. He had the breakfast without the oil on 3 mornings and found that by 11-11.30 he was not concentrating well and had stomach pains (from hunger). With the oil he was fine. The oil balances out the sweetness of the raisins so they give an instant energy boost, but some good fats and some oats keep you going til lunch.

Taste-wise we also preferred it. And I think Murrell and shanks said domething similar, that ready oats and water might have a wallpaper paste sensation in your mouth, but the oil makes it richer and much nicer I feel.

All I can say is, try both ways! See what you reckon! We look forward to your verdict :D

Sian, cherry jam? With some cooking apples if you need some padding if there aren't enough?

Sorry I didn't word it well I KNOW you weren't criticising CFR or me (you never do :)) it just happened to tie in with something I've been wondering, and my own sense of jealousy at prettier sites!

DH said they are both beautiful, but in different ways (and I kinda imagined you were saying something similar) like we might say one woman is 'pretty' where another is 'stylish' and the two sites differ in perhaps that way.

Sorry to be cryptic about the job, you've never had your skype light on when I wanted to write to you! Gimme a 5 min window at some point and I'll ping you a linkie? :)
