Does anyone know where we get hold of mean amounts of minerals present in uk tapwater?

DH works for local water authority - though in a legal rather than sciencey capacity, but will see whether he can access anything. It probably won't be until next week though as we're off to Rotterdam for the weekend :)

At the moment I have kept every weekend in August/Sept open for you lot (how sad am I) so I'm very flexible.

  • The folate levels aren't looking too great to be honest. I'm about half way through the list and we're waaaaaaay short. Unless my maths is really wrong which is totally possible.

Also I'm working for an RDA of 400mcg - is this right?

One major annoyance I just found is that kidney beans cooked in a pan at home contain 130mcg/100g of folate but canned (tinned) contain only 36mcg/100g. Damnation.

I’m sorry I disappeared back into lurkdom. :oI should be going back to work tomorrow & have been making sure everything else is in order so that is all I have the think about tomorrow.

This seems to be a starting place for water analysis, as these are the guys responsible for inspecting our water. Seems to be mainly making sure there are no nasties, but there are some figures for mineral content too.

Have been googling, but haven’t found anything more useful (yet).

I’m around for a couple of hours, if there is anything else needs googling at the mo.

As I am local to London, any weekend would be fine really. :)

Only by coincidence. We're off to watch the beginning of the Tour de France.

If I'm working to 200 then I'm just under halfway with less than half the list to go. Better if it were 180. We shall see.

well that's very interesting. The ones that meet the 5 a day (6 a day) may turn out to be lower nutritionally than the hardcore planner!

Any good news for me on any of those ones I listed for hardcore Joel? Just a mg per 100g raw if you have it handy?

EDIT: scrub that he's safe, I've added his potatoes and he has lots :)
