hmmmn the planner is probably quite annoying for you then ambersuccubus cos we've gone on average height shirley and average height Bob and given them enough energy to be their ideal weight. So ermmm.... sadly shirl and kitty are being expected to eat 1 3rd less than their men :o

Would you mind saying a bit more about why that's a problem? I'm sure you're not the only one to feel that way, so it's important feedback :)
Is the weightloss information being presented in a way which implies any assumptions about who in the family would be overweight?

Also since everyone has different rate metabolisms and nobody is average anyway, people are likely to need slightly different quantities of food to the assumptions anyway so someone who needs more or less calories because of being over or underweight is effectively no different to the ones who are taller/shorter than average or have faster or slower metabolisms than average.

You've based it on averages and since nobody is "average" presumably they would eat to appetite anyway.

This may explain my bias then :o

for 11 years I have been married to a man who is 6 foot 3 and weighs 13 stone. He needs 3,300 cals daily to not lose weight.

My prebaby weight is roughly 9st 10,(am 11lb above this currently) so if I ate his food I'd be quite a bit into the unhealthy zone :)

I don't think we've decided what to present about weightloss yet, more at the just discussing it phase :)

I looked it up susan and in 2009 stats, men were 1% more likely to me overweight (53% of women and 54% men IIRC)
So presumably it's not just down to relative portion size if similar proportions of men and women are overweight. (Unless of course more women are on diets and that balances out the equal portion sizes.)

I personally don't think of it primarily being a portion sizing issue.

Sadly I do think dieting encourages weight gain over the years as the yo-yo pattern is to put on more than you lost. So I think women are more prone to this type since they are the ones who have slightly more societal pressure to diet.

Hmm, I have to say that in terms of quantity at meals I eat more than DH but I snack less and I probably eat more healthily overall. We weigh the same and are the same height which means we are both overweight but I am more overweight than DH.
you both look smashing in your wedding pics :)

Ah the joys of nosing on FB :D

    AH!

    I'll write yours:

susanC good at listening, empathy, speaking the truth diplomatically, research, concise writing of complex topics, HTML, PHP and several languages. Keen interest in nutrition and topics relating to parenting. Politically knowledgeable...

    I could go on :p:D
 now I feel all :o

In the interests of honesty I have to point out that I don't really know several languages very well - the best (aside from English obviously) is French which I've barely used since my GCSEs followed by Greek which is very limited New Testament Greek with the remainder being random words/phrases and set piece conversations taught to me by speakers of other languages so I'm only actual fluent in English.

*whispers* It's a bit scary because you're asking us to say what we think we're good at.

No, I can't do that either. Think it's pretty obvious by now what I can or can't do though - I do not have any further hidden skills, I think.

Oh, maybe one - a quirk in the way my brain is wired means I have an eidetic memory for text, which makes me useful for finding things hidden in huge threads, as long as I actually read them in the first place. Somewhat balanced out (unless I'm posting from work) by the fact that my computer can take what seems like hours to navigate between pages though.....
