oh sorry hannah another thing, does the 2g need to be consumed uncooked, ie are the health benefits of the oleic acid destroyed by cooking temps? Don't worry if they are cos this was also true for the omega 3 so we're probably serving enough raw oil, but it would be fab if we can just check that out too.

Well done on a very successful contribution to our team

Remember, though, when the Doctor first discovers the crack - and says that "time can be rewritten" ? And he repeats it a few times through the series at strategic points ? I would not take anything for granted at this stage...

Do you not think it would be too obvious if she died?

EDIT: Oh and you might not be wrong because don't forget oleic acid is known as "the smell of death" because dead insects give it off. So it would seem likely that lower the oleic acid the more posh an oil is gonna be considered. If that's right then posh EV olive oil is pretty likely to have a hell of a lot less than bog-standard cheap old rapeseed.

Right ok, done editing, back to work.
yeeeees, I'm thinking perhaps we won't be using 'the smell of death' as our latest marketing tool for the website ;)

I obviously have no taste cos I quite like the mildness of the rapeseed doo-dah :rotfl:

2 g per person per day, so that's 248g of oil in a 31 day month for 4 people?

ok it's 90g of oil to 100ml and we have 6 litres of the stuff, so that's massively more than required:D

Right first off, assuming on 60% oleic acid is right then taking the unrounded 2.02g we found out and mulitplying it by 4 people and 31 days we get 250.48g of oil, which is the same as 230.4416ml or a nice tidy 230ml if we round it.

But I worked that out using 92g not 90g for 100ml of rapeseed oil coz that's what it said on the coverter I quoted.

230ml might be right for a month you know. We shall see what I can find out about rapeseed.

Hugh F-W is making breadcrumbs into biscuits. I'm sure you were talking about this on the thread the other day.

Weezl is the houmous supposed to be 10grams of houmous per person per lunch or was it supposed to be 10grams per slice of bread per person per lunch?

Right on to if canola oil and rapeseed oil are the same thing... Rapseed oil can be made of one of many plants but usually it's two, one is brassica napus (oilseed rape) and the other one is brassica campestris (canola), they are both closely related but not identical. We grow oilseed here, they tend to grow canola in canada and the US.

It took some doing to find out what the percentage of oleic acid in rapeseed oil was but I've got a paper in front of me which was supported by the Ministry for Agriculture of the Czech Republic and doen by some academics from 3 central European universities that says that the rapeseed oil (thats the one we eat it in this country) is between 59 and 68% oleic acid.

So the previous figures stand, in fact they could be even lower, I will do the maths again.
