Morning,
weezl I have fresh garlic at the moment cause I already had it in, so I'm going to use that for the 'garlic bread'. I think minced garlic would work well, though, in future.
arty Hope your bread went well.
I didn't get to make porridge for DH this morning. He has too short a space between getting up and getting out and I'm just too tired!
I will be doing it for the kinders and I, though.
I'm going to make enough for 6 people and keep 1 portion in the fridge to re-heat tomorrow, to see if it can be done and what effect it has on it.
I'm going to make some scones today.
Are the savoury bites still on the list weezl?0 -
Morning,
Are the savoury bites still on the list weezl?
Weezl said yesterday:
We can have (I think) 4 batches of savoury scones flavoured with cheese and mustard, 3 batches flavoured with tomato, and 4 batches of 21 scones with raisins in. And a savoury flapjack of as yet uncertain portions flavour method or ingredients.
So I'd take that as yes to savoury bites. Plus she also mentioned chutney, so I take it that is still on the list, Arty.
Weezl, is the chutney recipe on Arty's index the final updated one, then ? I know, nag nag nag from me - just think of me as your secretary :rotfl:0 -

yep savoury bites are in, chutney is in too, but has had to change a bit, because I was using it as a 'what to do with fiddly bits of leftover veg' option
So anyone wanting to make the bites can go ahead, but I'd be grateful if we can hold off on the chutney
Allegra, you are a fab secretary:D I prefer 'administrative manager' cos secretary makes you sound like you should have a perm and hot pink nails

weezl How many batches of bites per month?
I realise I'm nagging too..sorry. I'm just writing a list in OneNote of all the spreads and snacks and batch amounts etc so I can keep on top of my stock0 -
sian- thanks for the tom scone feedback
:A
Can I have a what you actually did plus a how much of ingredients cos I'd like to incorporate your tweaks in the final version
Plus can I check, they are ok without spread? I tried originally with just lard as the fat, but the mouthfeel was too dry, so I added in the oil to the cheese ones and raisin ones and that's been better, was that true of yours too?
Sorry for all the questions

hiya frankie, you have enough ingredients to make 3 batches in the month
I'll write that on the recipe in the usual place too
Not sure if you are comfortable posting on t'internet but your DDs range from 11-16 right? I'm asking cos I was going to say a bit more about portioning out the carbonara, so I was thinking of their different energy needs. Are they all DDs or do you have a DS too?!
Frankie another thought, the raisin scones with some of the orange flimflam might be a good 'on the run' brekkie for mr Frankie(might stop you topping up with a secret kebab Mr F
)

I was awake at 5.30am thinking about this (I have no idea why). In the 1980's there was a yorkshire television program called farmhouse kitchen and this recipe was shown
I don't know the quantities but I may have it written somewhere in my papers.
It consists of cooked liver, cooked pasta, an egg and s&p all whizzed in a blender. Put spoonfuls in hot fat deep enough for them to float. It does not matter if it is tsp. or tbsp. they do not take long to cook. and they puff up a bit. They were quite nice and my kids did eat them although they do not believe me as only one eats liver nowadays0 -
ok 2 slices of HM toast needs 12g of flim flam
more of that is a bit over zesty we felt here. Me DH and my mum are the testers here. A sweet scone needs 5g if you are using it on them but they are nice without
Hope that also helps.
Frankie, sorry, forgot to say for ages, when I'm saying to you about batches and portions etc, I'm always saying what's on the spreadsheet for 4 people, and like with the shopping, I'm relying on you doing the maths to make it up to a 5-6 person amount cos I'm not sure when is which IYSWIM?
Thought I'd better spell that out just in case!
