    Hi Morag :)

I'm really looking forward to having a links page too.

I would love to take you up on your offer of help though, and look forward to what you will write, just so long as you are cool with it not going up there for a little while!

Good thinking, I'm cool with that, pm me when it is appropriate.

susan, when you suggested having a why? link on other ingredients than just the oaty doo dah, did you have any others in mind?
Just anything which has been specifically chosen to meet specific requirements. (Although perhaps it would be good to have them on things people might substitute because they think they are unhealthy such as lard?)

I think the vegetable oil was specifically chosen to deliver the correct balance of omega3/6 so that could be one to mention.

Also white flour is being used because of the calcium fortification so that would be another.

It's partly to avoid people making substitutions to things they think might better but in this plan would cause the menu to be deficient and partly because the mere presence of the information will reassure people that it is okay nutritionally even if they don't actually read all the detail.

    Does that make sense?

    yes, that's fab thanks :)

My sense is that everything has had to justify it's incusion, but I will try to be ruthless! else there'd be a why after every ingredient...

do you have rss feed on your blog? And if so can you give me any idea of whether it would be a useful add on to the site?

Hi everyone, how are you all, on this gorgeous sunny day!

Sorry haven't on, this week has been a nightmare dealing on ST, EP, doctors, dentists, school and DS1's birthday.

I'm also officially a total invalid grrrr .
Burnt my hand on Monday when doing batch cooking, then again four days ago, i did the usual cold water etc. All was good no blisters nothing just a minuscule red mark.. Thought its all good.
Today woke up and my whole right hand is one big blister, no explanation, no reason why it should it be like this. Its so painful and disgusting even the doctor in A & E freaked out when he saw it.
So i now have one injured left knee and a bandaged up right hand.

So sorry allegra for not sorting anything out with you this week or weezl for assisting any way.

Will catch up with what's going on, and try and sort something out with you all.

I know what you mean but substituting say oats for the hot oaty cereal or wholemeal flour for white flour might make quite a big difference to the nutritional content whereas substituting almonds for peanuts, chicken liver for pig liver or using different tea bags isn't going to make such a significant difference.

I do. I'm not sure that one would be particularly useful unless you were going to write regular updates and I'm not sure that the structure of the site (where there are lods of things which are interlinked) really lends itself to a feed. If it was just a frugal recipe site putting out stand alone recipes on a regular basis then I can see it being useful but since it is an integrated whole I can't see a feed being useful. Unless you were thinking of a feed as a separate thing to post updates kind of like a blog about the site? I can see a feed being useful if you did something like that.

Apologies if I make no sense - I've been awake since three.

    Weezl :o

On the home page you mention the daily spend and the yearly spend but not the £100 for a month. As its in the fab banner should we mention it (just a simple sentence) on the home page?:o

I'm ever so sorry, please tell me to pee off if you are tired and sick of 'helpful comments'.:o

    It's really not a criticism :(

Weezl, i'm thinking of doing the vegan onion tart tatin tomorrow.

Does the salt in the decription refer to the mustard by mistake or do I add salt and mustard. There is no mustard in instructions.

Also what temp do you put the oven onto originally before putting it down to 180C. This isn't clear from the instructions.

Also do you use 2 dishes or once the onions are cooked just put the pastry on top. Sounds like 2 dishes, but i imagine its not.

    Hope this makes sense

I have finally tried the breakfast pancakes and lovely there are too!
I think someone mentioned living in Preston on this thread. If you are reading and want to know where to get 12 cans of chickpeas for £2.99, just PM me.
