Pasta Carbonara recipe.
Recipe on Website includes an Egg which is not shown on Forum recipe, also no instructions where to add egg if this is now included.
Also shown is 50ml oil but recipe says fry bacon in own fat.
thanks Jenny
Can I ask all who tested this one whether you think the oil and egg are good additions (if you didn't use them) or are essential/not-essential if you did use them?
That will help me know whethe to go with forum recipe or spreadsheet recipe.
Keggiethe only way I can stop 'pinch of salt' wrapping round would be to delete it from ingredients list (it's doing it because of the image size) I guess it wouldn't matter if we left it off ingredients list, since everyone would have some salt in their house and can pop a pinch in their pastry if it's mentioned?

looking at oven detail in other recipes there is an inconsistent approach - some have gas only, others gas/electric and others electric only.
Pasta Alfredo says 'shove in oven at 180' - no units and not sure about 'shove'
Keggie, you seem really good at detail, where I am often distracted by the boys midway through a systematic task!
I wonder if you might help improve the website by helping me offer gas and electric measures for the recipes? I guess the conversion is available on google. If you were able to give me a list saying: scones: add 'bake at 180 degrees C' or whatever, I could upload the changes.
Please feel free to say no, but I agree with you that it is an excellent improvement to the site!

Small mistake in Pasta Alfredo Recipe
Ingredients show Lard. Instructions say Butter, both forum and website recipes."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0 -

Hi Weezl I didnt use oil or egg in my Carbonara and it was fine like that. I followed your recipe but didnt need the 50ml oil as the bacon produced enough fat to cook in. In your shopping list you have down 7 blocks of lard. I bought 3 and still have 2 and a bit left over. Am i missing something?. Also the lemons are you now including cordial? cause if not i think they may be wasted. Sorry dont mean to tear your hard work to bits feel free to tell me to mind my own beeswax or other phrases of your choosing:rotfl:0 -
Hi Weezl
I'd happily do it. It will probably be tomorrow evening before I can get started though.
The Chilli was a huge success tonight, I must admit to cowarding out 3/4 of way through adding all those onions though!GC 2024 £1445.91/£3000

Hippeechiq let us know which tin you used and how it turned out.
p.s.Cake freezes well
Cooked the Carrot Cake while I was doing my tea. I used the 8" x 9 & 1/2" x 1 & 1/2" tin and I also used Sunflower Oil as I didn't have any Vegetable Oil and it turned out a treat thanks Jenny- a bit like the size/depth of a brownie. Definitely the right tin to use I think when halving the recipe.
Don't think there's any chance of it being frozen, so I may invest in a another tin so I can use the full recipe and eat one/freeze one.I think some of the titles are a bit specific to us lot and our mad adventures... what do people think? Is it weird that Mr Aless and Mr Frankie have recipes, but no other mention is made of them?
I'm just imagining going onto a recipe website and finding 'Mrs Flanaghan's Lemon Curd surprise'
Personally, I think that very thing is what makes a recipe more appealing.....like it's a good, tried and tested recipe that's been passed down by some, Grandma, Mum, Friend, Next Door Neighbour type thing.
Only had time to have a quick look, but from what I saw, the site looks fab Weezl. I especially like the minimalistic look of each recipe;

Method
Picture of an ingredient from said recipe.
It's clear, uncluttered and uncomplicated while still being visually interesting.
So many web recipes appear either daunting or unappealing because of the way they're presented. I don't know who designed the site (sorry, I've not had chance to read all of this thread) but it looks very professional indeed :TAug11 £193.29/£240

Very kind of folk to think of a book!:A
Poohbear I'm so glad you looked at the site. If you feel able, I would value your comments about the way the recipes are worded. As someone who has been teaching this for years, I know you have a much better sense than me of what constitutes a good recipe. I'd be massively grateful for feedback. Also thanks lots for saying how everyone got on with the planner :beer::beer:
beers for all your lovely men for taking part
Thanks, I think they have enjoyed it and will continue using lots of the recipes. They particularly enjoyed the pates and nut butter which I didn't make previously. :A
I will have a proper look at your wording but it won't be until Monday Is that okay?business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I checked out the net bags of citrus fruit in my Asda.
They range from 5 to 7 fruits, for the smart price range, cost 67p.
If Kitty is getting 7 or more fruits per smart price net, then its costing her a maximum of 9.57p per fruit...
Its over 11p for 6 fruits.
However, at the front of the fruit isle, there was an offer, on citrus fruits...
The fruits looked exactly the same to me. Although they were not packaged as smart price.
The nets contained 10 fruits each.
And the cost was £1.
This information is NOT available on mysupermarket.
If Kitty opts to physically go shopping, she can see that the £1 nets of citrus fruits are better value, if the smart price nets have less than 7 fruits.
Hope this is of some use.
If you need any more info tonight, from Asda, let me know
Just as a wee after thought....
I quite often buy the garden gang fruit...especially when they are on offer, which they do seem to be quite alot (2 for £2 ect)
There is often more fruits in these bags...
I wondered if the actual fruit was too small to be considered a portion, or is this something that would be nutritional viable for Kitty?
Anyway, bedtime0 -
I know we've joked about people watching us and we know there are lurkers, but 80 seperate users went to have a lookie at our humble site on day 1. It was only live from 3.30pm so that is really very good
I also noticed that Jo has blogged about us, I'm not sure if Jo has posted on here,:)but hello Jo, and thanks for the lovely description of our project:
"I've been following with great interest Weezl's blog and the development of a month's diet (one each for carnivores, vegetatians and vegans) on www.moneysavingexpert.com. She and her team are developing and testdriving this month of recipes, including snacks, which comes out at £100 for a family of 4 and that is 80p a day each. They are paying great attention to making sure the calories are right and the fruit and veg and also vitamins and minerals, including trace elements. It is a huge job to sort all that out for each of the three groups of eaters. My hat is well and truly doffed to them. And I am looking forward to testdriving the final version myself. If you go to the forum on www.moneysavingexpert.com and go almost to the bottom of the page, there is a board called "How much have you saved?" and the thread about these recipes is almost at the top of the list of threads. Definitely worth a read!"
her (very interesting) blog is found at-small holder wannabe
