!!!!!! had some unexpected funds to spend, I'm afraid we said "sod Shirley and Bob" for the first time this month and went out and spent them :p If I was Shirley, I'd have spent that money on stocking the storecupboard and freezer; if I was Weezl, I expect I'd thoughtfully lob it onto the mortgage; as it was, we happily handed it over at the local curry house, and came back barely able to move for stodge. The almost-forgotten experience of being able to dine out, just the two of us, was more than worth it though.

Better still, the curry house served me what turned out to be someone else's dish, and what with me being too [STRIKE]hungry[/STRIKE] polite to complain I'd scooped most of it onto my plate before they turned up with my meal.

Therefore, I ate way too much :j didn't pay for it fully, and their mistake meant they obviously didn't deserve a tip... :money:

If anyone knows where my post went this afternoon I would be grateful to be told. I wrote a lovely long post about all our meals over the last few days and it isn't here!!!

Lunch today was pate on toast again and thoroughly enjoyed by all. DS3 did mention the fact that it smells a bit like liver (which he doesn't like). We didn't tell him and he tucked into it.

Bit of a mixed reaction to the veggie burgers here. I found them a bit stodgy and heavy, while DH thought they were lovely. We had them with jacket potatoes and a few salad leaves, but the tomato relish would probably have been a better accompaniment to add a bit of moistness.
I was quite nervous about frying the burgers in lard - I've never fried anything in lard before. Until I met Bob and Shirley I don't think I'd even bought lard before. It didn't leave any kind of odd taste, which was my main concern.
I would make something similar in the future, but would probably include potato in the burger and leave out the oaty stuff.

poohbear- I have been on and off the thread all day and havent seen your post? Sometimes they get lost it makes me GRRRRRR

After blummin weeks I have finally finished my essays but as I'm on a frugal diet/non alcohol month I celbrated by an hour and a half in the gym. Not my idea of fun at all!!

We had Spanish omelette for dinner tonight, I had already had it but mr artybear hadn't. We both really enjoyed it and and its filled us up.

hi just a brief one as not a chance to catch up properly. I have a very swollen throat and am going for a lie down as my mum's here!

sandra I was going to use the peppers in houmous, pasta alfredo and a pasta salad. For the pasta salad I may have to go back to the drawing board, because I was going to get shirley to use bean sprouts sprouted from the mung beans, but I have been spectacularly unsuccessful with them here and changing their water every 8 hrs seems a bit much given the other things we're expecting like baking bread so often :(

going to lie down now, see you soon :(

Poor you, hope your feeling better soon. Thanks for letting me know the dishes the roast peppers will be used in. Shame about the mung beans. Twice a day should be enough. I just rinse them as I get up and then as I go to bed. I don't think I could cope with 3 times, especially with work and cooking as you say.

Used the rest of the nut roast for 2 with veggies and gravy and it was still lovely. I also tried it cold before putting it in the oven and it was delicious, so could be served with a salad/snack/lunch off plan.

Thanks ISOM, we are all a bit in the doldrums here in bob and shirlville eh?

Allegra and !!!!!! I heartily approve of the curry ides :) and yay for extra portions caused by bungling waiters :j:j

OK I'm still working on our website, and as asked am creating a way that the recipes can be ranked in order of ease of cooking.

At first this will take the form of just 3 levels 1=easiest, 2 medium, 3 harder/more time consuming.

Please could the testers/others maybe have athink about which recipes you feel belong in which category?

ie: spanish omelette, bean pate, lunchtime pate and scones all in level one, bread, chicken pie, bacon pie level 3, everything else, level 2 (that would be plenty :))
