The postie we had before this one was brilliant, we loved him and I was gutted when he left tbh. He always delivered sharp each day and he knew which neighbour would take stuff in for which house and would go out of his way to help if he could. He took pride in his work I think.

I wouldn't be going out of my way to have polite words with him at all tbh.

He's not doing you a favour by bringing the mail. He's getting paid - he's not doing his job properly so just complain to the manager who i assume would be at the sorting office. They're not likely to tell him WHO complained, just that someone in the street did.

If i pay for a letter to be delivered i expect it to get there regardless of the postie's personal life.

How funny I live in a small rural highland town too with a useless postie. It must be standard procedure!

No, we're in a London suburb and spend a huge amount of time, along with the neighbours, sorting out all the letters delivered to the wrong place.

Half our postment (they vary a lot) don't seem to speak (or read) English and the other half can't read at all....jeez. :(

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

You Should be grateful that that is your only problem having the wrong mail delivered, three year ago my postie as a thief,:eek: he has since been sacked and dealt with by the courts. I was a victim of his thieving ways. :(

Unless the process has changed recently, then yes, he sorts before delivering.

Not necessarily...Some FT and most PT posties don't do all the sorting, they just pick the frame and go, after another postie has sorted the frame...missorts are a pain...especially if they are at the other end of the round.

If he's as nice as you say, I'd have a word directly...you might find he apologises and explains why it happens. If no improvement, then have a word with the sorting office manager as it could be another postie in the depot causing the problem when sorting the frame.

PS...don't joke about mouse traps in boxes....OH is a postie and he has enough problems with sharps in the box along with sharp teeth!

I agree with Beenie in I can't beleive the number of people who seem to think its OK that hes rubbish and to make allowances!
Stuff that:If I'm sitting on a bus thats been dinged 3 times during my journey, I'm not going to chalk it up to the drivers bad day!!!!
OK, extreme example but, if he can't manage the job hes getting paid to do he shouldn't be there.

To the OP, I complained about a postie we had because he was always delivering the wrong mail and thought it was OK to take shortcuts over my property to access neighbours etc.
Honestly I'd be sitting there and hes walk over my flower beds at my front window rather than walk 3 foot to the actual path!

I complained and got a reply saying they'd have a word, he done it again on several occassions so I complained again.
    He never came back.

I certainly don't feel any guilt if he was sacked. I wouldn't expect to stay in my job if I cba to do it properly.

I remember a time when it was really difficult to get a job with RM and all the posties had pride in their jobs, that doesn't seem to happen anymore but I'm not putting up with a second [STRIKE]class[/STRIKE] rate service!

Our postie does something similar, if he only has a few letters for, let's call it Smith Street down the hill, he will put it through the corresponding number on Smith Crescent and save himself a walk down and back up the hill. It's not even that steep, he is just saving himself a bit of time and effort.
Now we've all twigged what he's up to we always write on the envelope "please deliver to correct address" and leave it hanging out of the letterbox for him the next morning, unless it looks like a birthday card or something important in which case we'll deliver it ourselves. It has tailed off a bit.

The schoolkids love him cos he always drops his red rubber bands behind him, for some reason the kids collect these...

I would complain to the post office, not about the postie himself, but every single time something goes wrong, and encourage the neighbours to do the same. ''He always/he never'' doesn't get you too far :) but specific instances recorded will. So every time you get a misdelivered letter or one goes missing let them know...
