Just so you know........I'm not doing that. :rotfl:

    I'm a very nice person you know, I don't complain easily. :o

Its only a fantasy I havent carried out. My postie delivers my post to the downstairs flat even though he knows i live here. Get this, last year he delivered a birthday card from my friend to my flat, and the present to the downstairs flat :rotfl:

  • The official way of dealing with these things is by contacting the manager, or assistant manager at the sorting office. Then they would pull him up on it.

However, I would have a quiet word with him, as mentioned earlier, it could be that he has personal problems and it's affecting his work. It happens to the best of us.

Sometimes the posties have to rush back to the sorting office to cover for sickness etc and can end up doing two 'walks' in a day, hence post being delivered in the afternoon, that may account for his mind not being on the job, who knows?

We live in a small rural Highland town. There's only one delivery per day. Before he started, we used to get our mail in the morning around 11am ish, we now get it around 2 ish. At first we thought it was just because he was new and would speed up in time. That's not been the case unfortunately.

How funny I live in a small rural highland town too with a useless postie. It must be standard procedure!

Does he sort it as well as deliver? Our postie sometimes gets it wrong, but he has moaned that as he does not sort it if there is a letter in the middle that is not ours he may miss it. We are fortunate to have a lovely postie & a lovely covering postie (who does his day off each week & holidays)

I would be a little wary about having a word . Last time i did that (was not really funny but )....the postie went off on one  He started shouting at me swearing being seriously abusive ,i was so shocked tbh i cried when i went back in the house.:( So just be warned you might not get quite the reaction you expect. :(

Unless the process has changed recently, then yes, he sorts before delivering.

I'd maybe keep hold of the mail he's given you and the next day rush out to catch him and casually say 'oh when you go next door would you mind popping this in, you popped it through my door yesterday by mistake and I've never got round to re-delivering it'. It's not really telling him off as such, but making him aware he's making mistakes.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I would say to him that you are fed up getting the wrong mail, and you know how much of a pain in the ar4se it is to take other people's mail to them, and wouldn't blame other people if they never bothered bringing yours to you if it's misdelivered, and that you don't want to make a big deal out of it at the post office, could he be a bit more careful in future so you don't need to get in touch with them? Hopefully (if ou say it with better punctuation than me!) that will be enough of a hint for him to get his backside in gear. Give him two weeks, and if it doesn't improve, go to the local sorting office. I had to do this with our mail, although whenever I did it online they told me there was no problem, when I got really fed up and went down to the sorting office, my post miraculously started being delivered correctly!

I live in the Highlands as well but our postie is awesome! He used to deliver mail to us that had the wrong address on it (when people didn't update our address when we told them to and so on) and he'll drop off parcels at family members houses if we're not in so there can't be a link between Highland towns and bad posties!!
