Thank you macfly - I guess I can't be mad at her for doing her job then, but she could do it without the rolling eyes and heavy sighs!:rotfl:I will make enquiries at the Mail Centre to see if that is an option.

delivery office is what you want(or combined)
full on mail centres are closed to the public

I have the choice of a busy city centre PO which is always packed and queueing out of the door and constantly seems short staffed. For six parcels it's a ten minute walk, one hour queuing and about 8 minutes to do the business.

Or there's a tiny one where they sigh at you if you bring in parcels and they don't know how to print postage labels so they take ages to affix the correct value stamps on to my parcels all the while complaining to any older customers who may wander in about what a nuisance I am with my eBay. This inevitably leads to a long diatribe about the evils of the modern world, younger people in general, and me in particular. Using this PO means a half hour walk, a twenty minute queue while we hoick up our bosoms and discuss the health of someone's cat, and then about 5 long minutes of slow searching for several different denominations of stamp and sticking them on the parcel. (I'm not counting the inevitable jailtime I'll have to serve when I murder the rancid old biddy.)

Or there's a Crown PO in the next town over which is always deserted so I get served immediately and efficiently in about 8 minutes, but it takes a twenty minute walk, ten minutes waiting for the bus, a twenty minute bus ride and another twenty minute walk to get there.

8 years of eBay have taught me that I can't win. :rotfl:

Hi All, please find below a copy&paste of my posting on the Praise, Vent & Warning Thread

I think it important that we take the bull by the horns and report these PO's

    Hi All

Not sure if your like me, fed up with the poor service you can often receive at the little branches of the Post Office and you find that the main person you have to complain to within the store is in fact the manager and often the same person who is providing terrible customer service.

I obtained the address below direct from Royal Mail as l think its only right that the 'Post Office' are made aware of how many issues there may actually be regarding the smaller branches.

What also annoys me, if like me you supported your local branch from closure and you find yourself travelling elsewhere just to avoid bad service

To make a complaint regarding a Post Office branch / employee, please write a letter including all the details of the incident including the date and
which office was used. Send the letter to Post Office customer care at:

    POL Customer Care
    Freepost
    PO Box 740
    Brampton
    Barnsley
    S73 0ZJ

Not discouraging complaints but the nature of the way these places are set up makes it impossible for the official post office complaints to do anything about it. The only reason a postmaster has ever been dismissed is for fraud. There is no disciplinary process in place, because they are the owners.
One of the few calls I had concerned a local postmaster complaining I was luring his business away. A real "character" who had alienated most of his customers. They should all be bought back and made to operate in a uniform way. You, as the people who fund it, have the right to demand that. The situation now is that these people are unfairly treated by the parent organisation, and sometimes take it out on you. It's not going to improve.

I do feel however, or should l say 'hope' that Royal Mail will act upon any complaints where it is clear that the actions by these people is effecting the Royal Mail service/business provided. Whereas l feel they will not be so interested in the cases where the counter clerk is a miserable so and so.

I just feel we are so quick to moan about issues to ourselves, family and friends etc but slow on actaully doing something more about it i.e writing a quick letter, only then will hopefully changes be made.

that would be assuming RM are interested
so far if you look at RM's actions its mainly about cost cutting and cutting services
how many new services have RM brought out for ebay sellers over the years? given it admits its a growing market year on year
closing down post offices, cutting incentives to PO's regarding prepaid postage etc are not working towards customers or PO's benefits
even simple stuff like working on the performance of the recorded delivery product could help so many ebayers and increase average spend at the counter
or even better open up a product to retail like 'royal mail tracked'

I've emailed complaints via the RM website in the past about the nearest post office to work (when I've queued at lunchtime for an hour) - you get a standard response and that's it. Nothing improves.

I'm sorry that some of you seem to think that complaining won't help and maybe you are right. (I don't know anything about the workings of the Post Office) But I'd like to thank PaulofEssex for at least trying to do something about it.:T
I'd really like to think that even if this link was brought to their notice, someone up there in their ivory towers should be made to feel very uncomfortable:D
The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
