I've started pre stamping my post at home and dropping it off at the delivery office every day and they couldn't be nicer. I am welcomed like a hero and sometimes they even take my bag straight through for sorting and even stuff I've handed in late afternoon 2nd class has arrived next day.
They have even given me a little laminated desk top card of the new postal prices as I was trying to work from a copy i downloaded that is all wonky.
but you are paying full retail prices0 -
well i went in today, only sent 1 package (though have many more but took them to a diff p.o. when my o/h could drive me there) it was in the uk so nothing difficult. asked for it to be sent 2nd class. i had my two children with me so couldnt check my reciept til later but what a suprise it was sent 1st class! normally i wouldnt mind so much but when its on everything i post all these little amounts are starting to add up.
next time (if i have the guts) im going to check my receipt straight away and if its done 1st class ill ask him why. its less money in my pocket not his.0 -

I hve two PO's within a 5 min drive from my home and they are both fine, one is a mare to park outside (its on a high street) but is very pro-Ebay (they even have a poster in the window welcoming ebayers and giving tips!!), the other is in a small precint with plentiful free parking but usually has long queues. The staff at both are friendly enough, so I guess I should count myself lucky given some of the experiences on this thread!:D£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

i have four in walking distance, the nearest is in a mills newsagents and so is the furthest away, the rest are their own little shops. I find all of them to be so lovely and never begrudged me for having more than one parcel.
BUT ONE OF THEM!!!!! I will happily name and shame! Palmersville Post office in Newcastle are vile!
I felt ripped off, their attitude stinks, it wasnt even busy and they still had a face on!
smaller POS should definately be grateful for the business![STRIKE]0.5 st[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]1st[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]1.5st [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]2st[/STRIKE] 2.5st 3st 3.5st 4st 4.5st 5st :j0 -
i have the same with my post office, 4 women work there and 2 are so rude and unfriendly you feel like a nuisance unless of course your over 65 then they chat away and hold the que up! The 3rd lady is so sarcastic and agressive in the way she talks to you and really tries to force you to upgrade your delivery to special delivery for example. Last week my large letter fitted thro the slot but she said as it just fitted and didnt drop in I had to send it as a parcel I told her I wasnt prepared to as its was within the size guides and she was going on and on and on how the receiver would end up with charges etc. she always asks whats in my parcels / envelopes and once I needed to send a chq recorded just for my own records it was received and she wouldnt let me post it said it had to go special delivery and she shouts at you about it infront of everyoneWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Ive had this happen many times and it certainly does add up! Ive also had them enter the wrong weight as they use those old scales and I weigh it on my digital ones before going but they deny it and say as theyve entered it onto their computer nothing they can do and I cant have the item back as Ive handed it to them! I complained about it and today they had new digital scalesWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

the PO scales are calibrated, when were yours calibrated?
My last set of digital ones were haunted I swear. I would weigh something and it would show as say 437 g, then 2 seconds later it would be 392g and then 511g. It was so weird and even with new batteries it kept happening.
I'm now using a cheap set of Cookworks digital scales and I'm usually within 3 grammes which is fine until I get a parcel at say 499g and I don't know whether to chance the lower weight band postage. I must admit though that I had always assumed that the PO ones were required to be 100% accurate? The only times I've had an issue with my PO is when someone slightly leans across the scales at the next till point and their bag or package adds several grammes to my item.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i find it amusing that a lot of po staff have the same oddball attitude!
i used to think mine were downright rude, without exception.
However, since i've started posting 2-3 items a day and ive got to know them all i think i've worked out why they can be a bit stand-offish.
This may apply to a lot of counter staff;
90% of public will only post things occasionally, and therefore not know much if anything about the difference between small packets/parcels/large letters etc. then consider that each person needs to be told to put it on the scales, specify what class of postage is reqd (and explain the difference).
I'll be honest if i had to repeat myself 100 times a day asking the same questions every 5 minutes for a return of about 50p per item i would go round the twist too!
My po is great btw - now i understand what to expect and what information to provide. You can see the palpable sense of relief when i walk in a tell them i have 4 small packets to the UK under 100g at 1.28 each...:rotfl:I am a building surveyor and will provide advice based upon what you tell me. It is just that, advice and not instructions. Based on the fact you're getting it for free expect it to be vague!0
