The man at my post office is so rude. Ive put up with it for a long time. He speaks to you like youre something on his shoe, hes very unhelpful and acts like youre disrupting him when you go in. I darent go in with more than 3 items at a time. If youre lucky enough to be served by the lady theny oure fine but hes just awful.
Ive now started to go to a different post office where the staff couldnt be more different, theyre helpful, patient if you have lots of stuff and actually seem to not mind you being there!
Other people have commented on this to me (its a small town people talk ) so I know its not just me.
Ive read on here that some ebayers have good relationships with their p.o. people in that they drop stuff off then pay at night time, I dont have enough stuff that I need to do that but I cant imagine anyone having the guts to ask him to do this!
I suppose maybe this shouldve gone in the rant section but I just had to get that out.
I feel better now.

I had a wonderful post office in Jesmond, Newcastle. Wonderful postal workers always eager to help. Having moved to a new premises I've found the new post office, and bare in mind this is my childhood one so they know me, to be somewhat 'mardy' yes. The fact that I now have a business account with Royal Mail seems to rile them somewhat, as if somehow not buying postage from them is a crime.
I literally set it up so I didn't have to bother them with the amount of mail holding up their queue!
I recognise you do get a lot of difficult people coming into the post office, there would only be so many times I could bite my tongue to say 'Well deliver it yourself then' when someone bemoans the cost of a stamp, but I do really think that there should be test to see if you are capable of being helpful to people. I guess like most franchises though it's whoever buys in really....Are you a Thrifty Beatnik?0 -
I don't have a problem with our post offices, we have three within walking distance, the main one, one inside a co-op and the other a privately owned one.
Do have a problem with RM thoughWe have nothing but problems with our mail - the biggest one being we have no postman at the minute - and haven't for at least 6 months - and we have to wait for someone to do overtime to get our post - as confirmed to us by our last postman (who was awesome!) when he did overtime around Christmas. Didn't get any post for just over a week until this morning when i got lots of lovely things from eBay.

Last time I went into our village PO I was posting a few small packages. I noticed that a flap had come undon eon the envelope and could I have some tape to stick it down. She pointed just above me at some tiny little rolls of tape and said "they are 99p" Needless to say I walked out, never to return. Not good business sense trying to get a 99p sale and losing out on £100s of business.0

Our experience of main Post Office staff in general is that they think they are doing you a favour in serving you.
The smaller local ones appear to be more friendly.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
I love my PO. There are a few in the area, so the staff know that being nice to me means I come back to them, so they get more business.
The one down the road refuses to take more than 3 items in one go.
The one in the other direction always has one person on between 4 - 5 pm, when about 6 ebayers go in with a postal sack each.
I know I'm lucky to have so much choice, but the PO can either make it easy or hard wherever you are.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

i suppose if its a rural PO redeliveries are a PITA
he will have to get the item collected, then returned to the delivery office and then it gets redelivered
all for the grand sum of £00 -
The guys in my local PO are lovely, always have a laugh and a joke, say hello using my name, if I need sellotape or parcel tape I know I can ask to use theirs (had a hole in a mailing bag the other day when I was posting it).
If there is a queue I normally do 3 or 4, he suspends the transaction and then I queue up again, I'd rather do that than have irate people having a go at me, some Ebayers who use the same PO don't do that and can be there for ages and it annoys me when I'm behind them.
Do you know when the lady is working and just go when she is there.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160 -
My local village post office is great, the two ladies that work there are lovely and nothings too much trouble.
The one I go to when I'm at work isn't the best (in town), two of the women are good but one of them is awful, if she sees you coming in with more than two parcels she raises her eyebrows. There is no conversation, she sighs if you ask for a receipt, I always dread getting served by her.0 -
Our local PO is a gem! The postmistress will even take your parcels in for you if you are out when the postie attempts delivery.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
