We are back and the house is still standing. Despite the fact tha Young Man had to climb in through our bedroom window because when we were away he lost him keys. Young people! And I seem to be becoming a Victor Meldrew - which I have know will happen since I was quite young.
The journey back was uneventful compared to the journey there - it all worked really well, we did not get lost in any Airport eben once and the only snag was the long wait at Prague airport. Even worse we had a bite in KFC - this was my first time mind, I hate fast food places and Americal ones in particular. Little Boy on the contrary was in heaven.
Today MG's 15 minute strategy will be implemented to get the house in order and decluter parts of it. We live a life full of things of dubious value and questionable aesthetics. This has to end.
Till later.

Right, time for a bit of rest. Also, it is final - the 15 minutes bursts don't work for me. It is not an accident that I am a long distance runner and not a sprinter. It took two hours but the ktchen is spotless - all shelves, cabinets, the fridge have been washed. The space behind the kitchen has been done as well - during the same time OH has been getting on with the luggage and our bedroom. The rest is not too bad - Young Man obviously did some vacuuming yesterday.
During the afternoon I will:
1. Do the menu for today and tomorrow;
2. Do some shopping for food;
3. Cook;
4. Bake some buscuits;
5. Make a loaf of bread;
This is my day of domestic perfection. Tonight will have to do some writing and possibly a visit to the gym.
Oh, and Little Boy went to tennis this morning and he won again - the tornament and £1.

Hi firewalker,
Well done on getting the kitchen done, and being so organised.
Well it is safe to say I am totally addicted to 'The Secret'. As a Scientist I find it goes against everything I have ever been taught, but at the same time I find it wonderfully simply and enlightning. When you read the book and read the examples inside, I smile and just think 'How good is that'. Its strange but I actually do believe it.

Three out of the five tasks have bee achieved - cooking and baking are left. Feel a bit tired though - probably the holiday is catching up with me. So time to catch up with the forum and to put my feet up. Briefly entertained going to the gym but decided not to.
Also, had an e-mail from my co-author - he likes the way it is shaping. Which is something given that he is the second most critical person I know. Before I got to know me, he was the first.

Money Fritter, I am very glad to hear how you feel about the Secret - because it means it is not only me. I underwent a prolonged cognitive dissonance where my instincts were saying 'there is something here' and my rationalist core was saying 'what rubbish'. Finally I decided to give it a go - to try and see what happens. And it works - really want something, visualise, believe and receive.
Interestingly enough I though that I reconciled the two sides of my being - the sceptical rationalist and the occultist intuition - by finding an explanation. It is that when one really developes a passion for something our perceptions open to it; and we start seeing opportunities where vefore were none. Since we so much want it, we take these opportunities. And of course the self belief and confidence are the other part - most of the time we don't fail; we simply don;t have a really good try.
But how to explian that the delivery is almost immediate and omnipresent with little things? With me it is buses - I visualise a busand it comes; have not waited fro one longer than 1-2 minutes for months now (and it is the bus of a particular company). Last night I decided, partially as a joke, to send a wish to the Universe that our luggage come first. It didn't - one of our suitcases came second on the belt. Little Boy started jumping around saying 'Mummy, we have always waited before.'
Mystery that is probably best believed but not explained.

Baking and cooking have been done. Made my mum's delicious honey biscuits - Little Boy will be able to take some of them to tennis tomorrow. And for dinner we had pork chops, with chips and apple and celery. I am officially a kitchen saint - at least this is what my three men say.
Now I'll do the accounts and after that there are three episodes of Mistresses to watch. Does anyone else like this or it is only me?

Hi Firewalker
I have spent the last 2 days reading your diary, I particulary like the thought of the day.
It's been a long time since I have read anything that makes me think, it seems the older I get the less in tune with myself I am. Although when I was younger I had different people around me that liked to discuss the ways of the universe etc.
I'm not sure I will have anything intellectual to add to your diary, so suspect I will just be an avid lurker!
Am going to source a copy of The Secret on Ebay I think.

Hi Firewalker, I am pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. I too love holidays but I am usually restless by the end of it. I am reading with interest but I need to digest before commenting. Like Woowoo, I will probably lurk as I am afraid that I will have nothing positive to add at the moment. I will say though that my belief has always been that if you can find the positive in a situation then the world opens up many more opportunities. Now where this belief came from I have no idea as none of my family have this attitude. Likewise my closest friends live their life in crises. I believe that it is a case that you get the life you deserve. Now I am not saying by any means that people who are struggling are not having to deal with real difficulties but I do believe that sometimes people get so bogged down in the mire that they will never climb out of the pit. MG is a perfect example of somebody who lives her life in a positive fashion and she has been a true inspiration to many.
Thank you for your comments and I do miss Scrooge, yet I only knew her (him?) for such a short space of time. I was touched by the kindness and insights. I hope that s/he is doing fine.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hi Woowoo, and welcome. Please keep talking to me - I would really like it if more people post their thoughts and reactions. Keep asking questions but nobody out there says a thing - I suppose people think these are rethoroc questions but they are not.
Watched the last episode of Mistresses last night on iPlayer - we were away so had to catch up. Very good programme it is, miles ahead of others in the class. OH seems to like it even more than me - at the minute it ended he said 'Do you think there will be another one.' Hope so.
