I realised that I was surrounded by people who were negative all of the time and it had started to weigh me down. I made a conscious decision to remove myself from the situation because I could see that I was being drawn into that frame of thinking.

According to the Meta Secret (which I presented in several posts mid August) this is the Law of Vibration: it states our thoughts and feelings are catching and it goes both ways - inside out and outside in. We are affected by the vibrations of the Universe or parts of it. We can change our vibrations and through this the vibrations of the whole.

Thanks for the recommendation cherisong, perhaps I will have to treat myself to both books!

Have you read The Secret? I know they are different books but if I was to only buy one, which would you go for?

Sorry for momentarily high jacking your thread Firewalker!

This is OK - but if you ask me I would say The Secret.

Woowoo, I am just about to start reading it again. Perhaps we could start a book club thread! Sorry for hijacking your post Firewalker but I am waiting until payday to order the Secret or would you recommend something else.

I like this idea, none of my friends are interested in this kind of thing and therefore I don't have anyone to ask for recommendations. I expect Firewalker would have a long list for us.

Cheri, I did find The Secret really interesting - but as I have said before reading it is just the first step. I find that it does not work like other morivational books - but through reflection and practice. I'll recomend it.

At the same time, with The Secret, for me there was always a sense of incomlpeteness, there was something that was bothering me. For instance the whole 'just place your order with the Universe' kind of thing. This is why I did find the Meta Secret even more facsinating. Regretfully, I could not find it in English although this is the original language I assume (Amazon were saying that it will be available in October/November time). So I read it in Bulgarian.

Apart from this I have been reading books on finance, biographies, NLP books - rather eclectic, really. Just trying to figure things out - and following my belief that our intelligence (our mind) is what helps us move forward.

Several days ago, I did boldly say that I am the Firewalker because this name is an expression of my nature. Tonight I would like to tell you the story of my name.

During my early days on the MSE website someone told me that ‘if I can walk on fire’ I can get to grips with all that budgeting and not spending much lark. Of course this person was right – several months later I am fairly skilled in budgeting and my spending is so reduced that if I were shedding off weight this easily I’ll be a super model by now. Only problem is I have never walked on fire – my OH has done.

When we first met OH was involved in a group that did different confidence building activities – fire walking was one of them. It was hilarious; OH telling me that he will be walking on fire and my reaction being ‘So?’. ‘Aren’t you impressed?’ – he said.
‘No. Where I come from fire walking is a fairly normal thing.’ – was my answer.

You should have seen his face; surprise, curiosity, doubt - all in one. But it is true – in Bulgaria fire walking is known as ‘nestinarstvo’ and has been practices for centuries in particular villages in the mountains near the Black Sea cost (South-eastern Bulgaria). Nestinarstvo was performed by nestinari on St. Costantine and Helen. On this religious holiday a large fire was started on the village square and the nestinary danced on the amber with the icon of the saints in their hands. Nestinarstvo is a sacred ritual and the right to perform it was hereditary – only the son or the daughter of a nestinar can become the next nestinar.

Now it is all commercial – you can watch nestinari in restaurants. Even one of the mobile phone operators in Bulgaria has a Firewalker on their advert.

I have not done any fire walking by it is in my soul, it is in my genetic memory.

I don’t know where you stand on Paolo Coelho – I like him very much so I kept buying his books for a friend of mine. As it turned out, she doesn’t. But the saying for today is by him (I mysteriously started receiving postings from his blog on my Facebook page):

“You are what you do; not what you think you should do.” – Paolo Coelho

    Good morning Firewalker

Many years ago I read the Alchemist and really enjoyed it, I went on to recommend it to a friend who was going through a difficult time.

Have you read The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran? This is one of my favourite books that I have re-read many times.

Its a great shame that nestinari, something that was once a sacred ritual has now been commercialised, I worry that we will eventually lose all our old rituals across the world.

Good morning Firewalker and friends

I enjoyed the story of how you got your name. I've never seen firewalking done but for some reason I think I'd be able to do it. Perhaps I'm delusional!:)

Good point NualaBuala, I don't actually want to be rich, just debt free! I think perhaps you have just made my mind up for me!

    Off to look on Ebay.....
Hope you enjoy the book Woowoo. It took me a long time to read as I kept putting it down but I thought it was great. It really helped me sort out my priorities.

Nuala, that is exactly how I feel. I have never been a person for material wealth and my current debt situation was not accumulated due to spending on material things, rather a particularly difficult situation when selling a property and moving on. I am living the life I always dreamed of, or rather as close to it as I could hope for. Just a few more things to put in place (including giving up a very successful career which I am no longer excited by). Happiness is really not bought it is about stopping and taking notice of all that is around you and appreciating it for what it is.
Nice to hear from a kindred spirit!:) My debt is from a one-off situation too, one hefty loan I took out for a particular purpose but it is coming down slowly but surely. The career I was training for no longer excites me either. I just want to live a simple life. Do you have a diary too?

Sorry for all the thread hijacking Firewalker, see what you've inspired? It so interesting seeing people take this approach to their finances no matter what their aspirations are.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
