Learn to control money but do not allow it to control you

you bring very fair points sea .... i had mixed feelings about the !!!!!! walks tbh .... i was abhorred that a policeman in that position could say something like that ... fundamentally there is something wrong if in this day and age there people that think that way in high positions .... look at the sky debacle it was the same kinda thing ...
claiming something for yourself though be it a word or a thought can increase self respect power and control over how others view you .... as humans i have noticed we seem to have this obsession with labelling ... we see kids that are slightly different and we lable them (autistic etc) some people seem to enjoy lables some dont
on a totally ironic note ... thinking about black people and how it is deemed some what accpetable for them to call themselves n*****s ( see i cant even use the word it is that taboo) ( listen to rap music, watch films etc .... the lyrics, script often has the use of the term) but it is totally unacceptable for non black people ... makes me smirk at the thought of sluts using that particular term for themselves and everyone else not being allowed to use it ...
on a personal note ... i think it is a woman's right to sleep with how many men/women she wants to ... her body her choice0 -
Oh my .... not joining in the discussion after having said my piece, but sea made me remember the old rhyme, which we used to sing at demos:
However we dress
Wherever we go
Yes means yes
And no means no.
I loved that song.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Says it all! And El, you are right about the labelling - how to keep it under raps is another matter; and an interesting question.

Just wanted to pop on and say I hope you are well after yesterday Firewalker and are taking it easy today.
Am in the process of challenging one of my basic assumptions regarding money at the moment and for this I thank you and your writing. I read your diary and your blog a lot but never think to acknowledge it.
So thank you dear FW :T, enjoy your weekend as much as I'm sure LB will enjoy his, Thriftyxxx0 -

Thrifty, thanks and I am very glad that you are questionning assumptions. They are difficult exactly because we need them to move and we assume (no jokes about 'assume makes an !!! of you and me, kind of thing).
I found it very hard and painful myself - but once done life is so much calmer and better.
You look after yourself and have a nice weekend as well.

Interesting little revelation about the discussion on the thread this afternoon - I like chipping in with a view, but I don't like discussing it, as other people seem to do. And I've just had an insight about why - all stems back to childhood, of course. I knew the teasing and verbal bullying I got from most of the adults around me had given me a bit of a sense of humour bypass in some ways (I've now reclaimed a lot!) but its also cast a shadow over discussions, which I never realised before. You live and learn ... thanks folks.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

thats very interesting you say that kc ... i have to admit i almost always agree with everything you say ... i love your stance on so many things and would love to know more .... and yet you feel uncomfortable discussing it ... shame in a way as i feel you have so many many valid points0

Thank you El! Thats such a nice thing to say ....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Karmacat, I'm relieved to read your post about being hesitant to discuss issues. I have always been afraid to put forward my opinions..indeed to have opinions...because of verbal bullying by father and ex-husband (and am now 50 plus!). Thanks.0

That hesitation can also come from having little experience of discussion which could become confrontational. I was not bullied in any way by my parents but they never confronted disagreements but worked round them - I suppose they may have had 'free and frank exchanges of opinion' but they must have done it quietly as I never heard anything.
It took me many years to learn to disagree with other people and I still prefer to, as KC says, 'chip in with a view' and leave it at that.
It might be a bit late to change now as adrisco seems very young to me; I'm over my biblical 3 score and 10 :rotfl::rotfl:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0
