In my home at the moment we are hoarding money, like LB and friend. OH is freelance and insecure about money as he is afraid there will be no work around the corner, something I have contributed to in our quest to save for a mortgage even when our total income was very low. OH has been earning good money for the past couple of years, and me averagely so. We live on a basic amount of money for mortgage rent bills etc, we can socialise and have some dinners out with this money too. All the rest goes into a savings account and somehow disappears. Getting OH to spend his savings is difficult. Even though our money is joint I have to persuade him to liberate the pounds. We need to have a 'worth it' account but with fluctuating income it is so difficult. Some months will be interesting badly paid jobs and other months a big commercial project. After we pay for the wedding I think we need to see a financial advisor. It stresses me out even thinking about savings / long term planning.
P.s. I don't like to play Monopoly either because I am a sore loser :rotfl::A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Good evening. He is back – LB arrived back from his weekend, tired but brimming with excitement and adventure. Bright eyes gently closing from tiredness and now he is asleep upstairs. It is nice to have him back so confident and grown up.
Last night before we were off for our night I also noticed something – OH is singing around the house again. He hasn’t done this for close to three years now, and certainly not since the revelation about the negative wealth. Things are looking up – when we are well psychologically and feel confident about the future life usually resolves itself.
As to me, I have been feeling more centred for sometime now. Today was a fairly productive day writing wise – have prepared the writing for the blog for next week; well mostly. Wanted to catch up a bit and to test whether what Tim Ferriss preaches – to batch things if we want to save time or money – really works. Suspect that I did manage to do more writing than I would have done piecemeal during the week; and avoided the temptation not to do it because I feel tired.
On the other hand though I did not go for a run; not even a walk; in fact I have hardly moved a muscle. Now good; soon will be looking like some of the rotund writers who can hardly move. Firewalker ought to get a grip – by booking a race and making training a part of her day.
Good night.

Glad to hear LB had an adventure
I know what you mean about becoming a rotund writer  Not you, of course, but me... also need to book a race (me and Mr DAffs are doing a triathlon in October - not my first - but haven't booked it yet... evidently not committed enough!) .Will take my bike to work today though, that always helpsHave a good day x
(I've got my weekly and daily list all packed and ready! :T)0 -
Good morning, Cheery. I am doing 'the weekly, daily, pay attention only to the daily' thing as well. My weekly plan is a colourful mindmap (computer aided but he still colourful).
Have a very good week.

I don't quite *get* that .... if you're making a weekly list, and don't pay attention to it, why make it? Or are you supposed to use it only to feed in to the daily list? Sorry, I feel like I *should* get it, but I just don't....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I tend to make a list of weekly things, and at the start of each day I turn them into daily jobs
Once I have made my daily list for that day, I ignore everything else on the weekly one.
It does depend on your ability to prioritise and the amount of adhoc stuff that comes through the inbox though - I assume that's what you mean?0 -
KC, I posted something about this one on the Matrix tread (found it on the blog of a very young American guy). In essence it is what TMIF is saying - the trick is to focus only on what there is to do this day and don't worry about the rest. Apparently saves energy.

For work I have a six month work programme, each task is phased 1.2.3. then it is broken down into monthly tasks. So TASK 1 Phase 1 to be completed in May TASK 1 Phase 2 Completed by end of July etc. I then know what I need to have done by what dates. Then I break it down into weekly tasks and further into daily tasks. It works for me. I have to say that since I started doing that I seem to have more time to do anything that lands into my inbox as a priority and I feel much more focused. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0

Haven't caught up yet but just need to say something about word never.
Universe doesn't understand word no. So if you say you don't want something it gives you more of it. It is like trying NOT to think of an pink elephant. Impossible.
There have been many things in my life that I never wanted to do:
- Never become an accountant
- Never go to same college as my brother
- Never go to work in Helsinki
- Never have a child unless I am married
And would you know, I did all those things. So I am very carefull now with the word never."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
