Guys, guys! I spend a whole day in hard, intellectually challenging meeting chomping sweets (mainly cakes for which Vienna is well known) and what do I come to? A lovely surprise. Thank you.
BTW, I used to be very skinny - all you see is chocolate and things that I should not eat. Si, it is a health issue rather than anything else. What I say is - there are many reasons for women over forty to become invisible, getting really skinny should not be one of the xcuses. So now when someone bumps inot me ans says 'I did not see you.', I go: 'What? You mean all 12 stone of me?' Works everytime.
Don't tell MrFW but yesterday in Dusseldorf Airport there was this young man who kept offering me 'nice massage'. Poor lad, he was selling massage for a salon there; but it was hilarious. Particularly when I told my colleague that beeing a cougar feels good.
Now, shower and dinner for me. Will have a look again when back but suspect that tonight I need to write another blog post.

FW - A stick insect in leather is NOT A GOOD THING (IMO)! Most mean prefer a woman with curves and intellect. I can imagine you have the right amount (in the right places)of the first and I can read that have an abundance of the second.
Be well all0 -
Mr W - you have brightened my day!0

Vienna! My very favourite city in Europe! Vienna is like a rich woman who has decided to downsize – her attire and jewellery are resplendent; her furniture rich and well kept but too large for her small house. Vienna is imposing, beautiful, rich and imperial. Except that there is no empire and there hasn’t been one for about hundred years. Anyway, walking the streets of Vienna it is difficult to believe that it is the capital city of a country with population of slightly over eight million people.
When I was in Washington I told you that it is about political power – you can smell it, you can taste it and you can see it running around Washington Mall. Vienna is about power as well – but it is about cultural and intellectual power. It is the city of Freud, Wittgenstein and Popper. It is also the city of Mahler and Mozart. But Vienna tastes of wonderful chocolate cakes, strudel, pancakes and Vienna schnitzel.
I love Vienna and Vienna loves me – we have had this love affair for about fifteen years now. It won’t come as a surprise then that I had two wonderful days soaking its spring sunshine and enjoying its tastes – including the asparagus which happens to be in season and which I have always believed to be over-rated; just like oysters.
My meeting went really well – there was no fighting, no bad feeling which are so rife at gatherings of academics; particularly social scientists. Each and every member of the team was tough but constructive. So easy it was not; but it was highly stimulating and useful. At the end I had to thank everyone for ensuring that I had really good time and loads of interesting conversations.
Today I had to take it easy – travelled all Sunday, intensive meeting on Monday and Tuesday, small wonder I felt really tired. Had to go to the hospital for tests as well; tomorrow will see a doctor and we shall know whether there is anything wrong with me or it is just the passing of life. Used the time to read and write for the blog. Can someone please tell me why there are so many personal finance blogs by Americans, some of them really young, and not that many by Brits? Is it only because talking about money is bad tone?
Today I read something that made sense and stayed with me. So decided to share it with you all:
“The reward of our work is not what we get but what we become.” – Paolo Coelho
Does this make you think and question? I sure have been asking myself some questions.
