I wouldn't be very happy if I was the staff member concerned and I was unable to put my side of the story. She is being discussed on an open forum, is quite easily identifiable and she doesn't even know it

then perhaps she will treat customers a bit better in the future? everyone's a winner then, aren't they?
  • Being technical, turkey is poultry not meat!!!

But hey if the service was bad lets not pick holes in the meat deal as the service is the question. There are ways of telling customers they have made a mistake.

exactly, had she said, oh I'm sorry dear but those are 2 seperate promotions, I'm sure any decent person would say OK and accept it, perhaps point out it was a wee bit misleading and leave it at that, don't work in customer service if you can't deal with people in a decent way...

It probably is a seperate promotion but if they were marked up on the same shelf and it wasnt clear

They wouldn't have been. Ones deli the others raw meat. In the two Asda's local to me not only are they in separate bays they are located in separate aisles! Thats with one large Asda and one medium/small one. I bet it's the same in the store in question.

If a member of staff even was asked (I had this in retail, when I asked who in 10 years the customer could never point them out!!!) I bet the op deceived them giving absolutely no idea they were intending walking to a different aisle and locating a product from a separate promotion.

Not all people are reasonable/decent! See my above post about how clear it is really about how separate these promotions are. I think the op was trying to take the !!!!. The more you get "he/she was so rude/vile/patronizing" in a complaint the more wrong and unreasonable the person always is. I could spot it a mile off with this thread!

I don't think the op's version of events are truthfull about how she was! Different kettle of fish when it's like that!

Some customers will find fault with whoever deals with them (even you if you worked in customer service!!!)

Should maybe then no one ever work in customer service? That would be the only solution. There's not a single person in this country (again including you) some customer somewhere wouldn't have a problem with no matter how they dealt with the situation!

There are. They all work in Waitrose and John Lewis.

This is the funny thing I was going to write but didn't go into. The "reasonableness" of a customer depends on several factors. The most common time you'll come across "unreasonableness" will be with people on lower incomes. It's possible someone who's only worked in Waitrose or John Lewis may well think well they haven't. I can guarantee, put them in an Adsa for two years and eventually they will have. I've actually never worked in an Asda, just an example though.

The other unreasonable type of people tend to be middle managers (often quite jumped up) maybe on 50k give or take a bit. Very high income people tend to be extremely polite and reasonable. Obviously not all people I've mentioned in these categories are like this, probably only 1 or 2%.

so just saying the meat counter manager wouldn't have given it away to those who shop there anyway?!? We use Ocado now so I don't supermarket shop anymore but back in the days when I did - I couldn't have told you whether the meat counter manager at Sainsbury's was male or female. Or even if the person who served me was a manager or just a regular shop assistant. Who cares - you just want to get your stuff and go!

    :T

'Meat counter manager' could be male or female. Anyone sick enough to go and look her up now knows it is a woman, what she looks like, wears, her hairstyle and a rough idea of her age. We both know there are people like that on the internet. <rolleyes>

But hopefully none of them are either in Perth or willing to travel there. :rotfl:
