The only thing is, with no warranty you would need to be getting it very cheap........What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
Has anyone been to the laser sale & what have the prices been like - someone in our office said they went but turned away because of the length of the queues.0

I turned away from the connswater store yesterday as the queue was massive. There's nothing i needed enough to make me join that!
I'm curious to hear if anyone got any bargains!
A friend picked up a fridge for £85 in the Laser stock auction last night at James Armstrong's in Bangor. not bad...0 -

That may or may not be a bargain, given (a) there may not be a warranty and (b) Argos are doing fridges for £15 more...

and so are currys

If its cheaper than argos and curry's how is this not a good deal.you still get a one year warranty.
The implication with the closing down sale was / is that prices will be slashed. I know from friends who went to the sale that a lot of the prices were discounted down from hugely optimistic RRP's to make the sales prices look better - for example there were memory cards on sale that were branded up for 'WAS £29.99, NOW £10.00' when the same item could be bought in tescos for a few pounds. No doubt there will be people though who went home with those cards thinking 'i got 2/3rds off the price, isnt that great'
For example, if you're standing in that store / auction and see a fridge WAS £199, NOW £85 then that seems like a really good deal. If however a similar item (and given an £85 fridge is a prime example of white goods) can be bought any day of the week for £99, then £14 off isnt that great - particularly given those just happened to be the only two other stores i looked at.
So at £14 off a fridge in a closing down sale i'm not thinking 'wow thats a real bargain', given you've no comeback with the retailer at all AND you have the inconvenience of standing around in an auction waiting for the item you want to come up.0 -
