Does anyone think their will be a sale and if so WHEN
Depends if they are bought.
If they find a buyer, then I'm sure they will have a sale and try to turn their stock into money.
Although, now the Administrators are in the Manufacturers and Suppliers that Laser owe money to will be wanting paid, or the stock uplifted and returned.
As far as I now, from my source in the trade, Alot of the Suppliers laser dealt with froze their accounts a while back cos they weren't paying, so I'd reckon the Administrators, if they don't find a buyer, will just sell it on to other retailers etc.0 -
I agree about Harvey Norman .They regreted moving to Ireland but where in to deep to pull out ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0

The group as a whole seems strong enough. A profit of £98m is not to be sniffed at.

Although a £10m loss in NI and ROI does seem to be a bit of a problem. It'll not pull them under, but they might reconsider their presence. Although, the good news is that the loss is only half of what it was the year before!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
I doubt if this will be the end of it. This is the recession hitting home. Fewer first time home buyers, fewer people moving houses means less white goods and electrical items being purchased.0

Yeah the group as a whole are loaded! They very big in Europe and at home in oz, I had a chat with one of their managers from the Holywood exchange branch and he told me.
But realistically, as a company, there is only so long that they can continue on.
Their profits are up on last year, but still losing the amount they are loosing is just crazy.
I've been in a few times and they never seem busy, a friend works there and going on what he says he'd be happy to get out.
They recently were offering certain white good products with free 6 year warranty, obviously not going to be here by then.
Real shame about Laser though.
I know a guy that works for Sams Yer Man, Harvey Norman and Laser never affected them really, Sam always seems to be able to beat their prices, but I think with Sam its the good reputation and that he's been in business so long, same with the other independants, you'll always get a better deal - and looked after when things go wrong.0 -
It seems Bladerunner has friends everywhere,is there nothing you don`t know?
number 1,laser was an independant retailer as well as sams ur man who you seem to be in love with!!!!
I shopped in various laser stores and always found the staff to be well informed and the prices competative unlike sams ur man where the sevice is always sub-standard and the prices the highest on the high street.0 -
And yet another first-time poster rears his/her head. Don't suppose you're a Laser employee by any chance? ;-)0

I agree with iamlost, that has exactly been my opinion and experience, have bought numerous items from Laser over the years and will miss them,0

Sorry but out of the times I have attempted to buy goods in Laser it was never a good experience, last time was a Fridge Freezer, the only one they had was a display model with a damaged door and they refused to give any money off! Same model bought off Pixmania £30 cheaper than Laser and £50 less than Currys who delivered it :think:Dave0

We managed to buy a Samsung American style fridge freezer and it worked out about £200 cheaper than Harvey Norman. It was probably pure luck as it was on a manager special the day we were in. Can't say I was impressed with the staff but we ended up with a bargain so who am I to complain?
As for Sams Yer Man - you're having a laugh? We were after a Sony Bravia and at the time the company I worked for was owned by Viridian which gave me a 10% discount in SYM. Checked prices around quite a few stores and websites and was shocked that SYM didn't have a very good price. Haggled a bit then informed them of the discount at which point I was told I would only get discount on the ticket price which worked out dearer than their best price. We actually ended up getting the TV in the Sony Centre in Ards complete with 5 year guarantee and for £25 less than SYM. Doesn't sound like much on an £800 TV but I would have paid the same price in the Sony shop rather than hand over money and not get the discount I was entitled to in Sams Yer Man.0
