You get what you pay for.
The likes of laser, sams y man, currys etc sell the high spec double insulated leads with gold connecters so you don't lose any picture quality.Def worth spending the money on if you have spent a lot on your full hd tv.
These leads can be expensive(around £30 - £50 ) but there is a lot of margin on them so it is always worth asking for discount on them where ever you buy.
Buying a £1.00 lead from poundland is like buying a jag, then hanging fluffy dice from the mirror-yea you can do it-but it wouldn't improve the look of your car.0 -

But the comparison is not the same. All HDMI leads carry digital signals (ones and zeroes) so unless the cable itself is faulty there will be no discernible difference in the picture. Check out the review carried out by Which

its an hdmi lead, it is well known that £1 lead is as good as £40 lead, its 1's and 0's - do a bit of research if you're connecting skyhd, ps3/xbox a £1 lead provides exactly the same quality as your gold connected expensive over priced lead - it is not the same as a scart lead where quality does count
in this case you get exactly the same quality at £1 or £40, you'll get EXACTLY the same picture on your HDTV!Norn Iron Club Member #64

So, Mr Bladerunner.... Who exactly are you? Spam, spam spam spam!
-You initially pose as a past customer to knock about a local company fallen on hard times.
-Then you pimp samsyerman.
-Then you 'know someone who works there'
-Then you say you work in the trade and are on the phone to major suppliers
You work in the 'electrical trade'
Why if you work in this sector and have 'friends' who also do do you Purchase a tv of Laser? Unless, you work at Samsyerman and are employing cheap marketing tactics spaming this site....
It's quite pathetic and misleading to others on this site. Administrator if you would be so kind
I purchased a TV from Laser as it was the best deal I could find at the time for the model that I wanted.
Being in the business a while i DO have friends that work in different Electrical Retailers.
I wasn't as you said, PIMPING Samsyerman, I was merely trying to say that They, (and I did mention others) were always the best place to get a good deal!
The smaller independants I think always have been better, not everyone will agree as I am sure that some people do get great service from the bigger shops, but for me, I believe the small independants are better, but each to their own!0 -
In regards to the matter of hdmi leads,i am aware that which did some tests on leads with what they felt was bottom of the market which were £10.00 asda or tesco leads which are fine and have gold connecters.
They did not list £1.00 poundland leads as nobody is going to buy something for their tv which will not work to full effect.
I agree that they are over priced but if you can get a lead reduced from £40 to £5.00 why would you not buy it?
I think even the beloved "which"magazine would agree that there is a limit to what a poundland lead would do for your tv:rotfl:0 -
iamlost if you ain't tried it how do you know? why should you pay £5 for something you can get for £1? how do you know theres any dfference other than a "badge"?
every deal on Hotukdeals for HDMI leads over about £3 always go cold because everyone knows the expensive leads are not worth it
av snobs amuse me greatlyNorn Iron Club Member #64

iamlost doesnt know what he is talking about. Every HDMI lead no matter the price will deliver the same picture quality.0

I am not being an av snub over the hdmi leads,i am just talking from my own experience.Poundland don't sell hdmi leads just in case people start heading down for a bargain, but if anyone can get a lead for a couple of pounds, then go ahead and get one
I got a lead for £5.00 to hook up my blu ray player to my tv and wasn't happy with the picture,so bought one for £12.00,picture quality was a lot better.0
