I was speaking to someone that works there this morning.
They were all told at HQ this morning by the administrators that they were not going to be bought and that they were closing permanantly, apparantly no one wanted to buy them.
Connswater store in belfast was being emptied on Wednesday night past.
Would love to know where you get your information, I worked in the Conswater Store and was there this morning for meeting and the stock was still there. Oh and by the way Sams is in trouble as well as they laid off 5 staff, in the last two weeks.0 -
Sad to see Laser go, in regards of Harvey Norman I wouldn't hold your breath. Not so long ago Dalzell's in Markethill were helping them out with American Fridge Freezers as the manufacturer wasn't supplying them.
How do I know this, because Dalzell's sticker was on the side of it when it was delivered to my aunts house, a friend in a week later asked them, they wouldn't admit it but just smiled apparently. Oh, and they were fifty pounds cheaper and would have delivered it for free. Doh!0 -
Agree, with 'mariakennedy' about buying from well established retailers, so much safer, Dalzell's have been around since 1956 according to their website. There's always more of a family feel and an appreciation of your business in places like Dalzells and Donaghys.0

Have to say I agree with mariakennedy, Donaghy Bros in Kilrea are fab. We bought a fridge freezer off them about 6 months ago, couldnt fault their service at all. We knew roughly what we wanted and had seen it else where, they matched the price and they do free delivery to Belfast.
My dad also recently delt with them over the phone regarding a dishwasher, they were very helpful and ask loads of questions before recommending a dishwasher they thought would be most suitable.:j Norn Iron Club Member No. 343 :j0 -

The friend I had spoke to who was at Laser HQ was the White Goods buyer for Laser, Initials M M mean anything.
I seen with my own eyes a 40ft container last wed nite at Connswater putting stock into it.
As for Sam laying of 5 staff - your wrong.
1 Sacked - 1 Laid off before his probation ran out (they obviously just used him through their bust period from xmas til feb.
And I hardly think they are in trouble when they are opening a new store this month.
Lisburn store due to open by the end of April.
So hardly a shop boing bad is it??
As for Laser, well, you know more than me obviously!
You signing on yet??0 -

Taunting somebody who has just lost a job, why?Because somebody questioned where he got his information from.:T
When it is plain to see that you just make up whatever you like, maybe its sam himself logged in to have a smug laugh at other peoples expence.
3 cheers for bladerunner2-who has found a new low:silenced:0 -
Not sure what your problem is here iamlost? You seem to want to stir things. I really don't believe you are new to this site but if I am wrong maybe you missed this advice? Of course this could be a personal thing with Bladerunner2 who has not been here too long either?Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.Dave0

Went to a couple of their infamous midnight sales but always came away empty handed despite having at least one thing in mind to buy.
Did anyone do well at one of these events?0 -

I am lost, I'm just stating the fact that I did know what I was talking about as that other person suggested that I didnt.
I been in the Electrical Trade a long time and know different people, I was just passing on my Knowledge to ya's!
As I write this, I am just off the phone with a major supplier to Laser etc, a well known brand.
They are currently removing all the stock that belongs to them that Laser didnt pay for.
Apparantly it was comon knowledge amongst the more senior staff at their HQ from mid January that this was going to happen, so for the staff to be stunned by the news in they way they were is pretty cruel really I suppose.
I do feel sorry for the staff, I honestly do.
But I stick to my guns and say that they were never a great shop, some staff were tuned in, but alot were not and didnt have a clue, the after sales was crap too.
The 'smaller' Independants for some reason are better.
Just look at any of those shops in the Euronics groups...
Sam's there what 40+ years
EH about the same
Hanna & Browne 30+ years
etc, etc
Harvey Norman the next to go I reckon.
Anytime I'm in they are dead, bringing most of their stock up from down South were it costs them more means that they lose a fortune when they price match with shops that bring the stock in from the UK.
And then anything they bring in from local suppliers, well, they don't order enough of it to get it anywhere near the prices that the retailers here buy it for.0
