Many, many thanks for all the support!Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Good night sweet Darcy. To you and your family Paradigm, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. There are no words that can ease the pain I know you are going through, but we are here if you want a chat.
Hugs to yuo and yours Chris n TJ xxxx
Tribute to a Best FriendSunlight streams through window pane onto a spot on the floor.....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie, but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet, and muted echoes sound.....
then I remember,
it's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road, and up beyond the hill,
then I remember,
it can't be yours..... your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor and empty muted hall,
and lay them with the absent voice and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memories in a blanket of my love,
and keep them for my best friend until we meet above.RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxxHe is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.0 -

Well, what to say...
I didn't intend to post again on this thread but to "cut & run" would have been extremely rude after the support we've received.
To be cheered up, consoled, advised by complete strangers on an internet forum is a totally new & weird experience for me, it's not something I've done before & quite why I started this thread I don't know. It's not the kind of thing I would normally do.
All I would say is that it's very difficult to think straight when you, & everyone you would normally rely on, is emotionally involved so maybe I was looking for a detached view, maybe a sympathy vote... I don't know!
Just to add the finale (as it were)...
Darcy was taken to the vets at around 5.00 am yesterday in great distress, she couldn't poo or wee & was struggling with her back legs.
She was scanned & the tumour was totally blocking the colon & the bladder. Under sedation she was given an enema to try & move things & also had her bladder drained to hopefully give her enough time for the drugs to have an effect.
At 2.00 pm I got a call asking me to go in as it was not good news. I picked my wife up from work & we went to see her....
She tried to get up but her back legs weren't working properly & I looked into her eyes & all I saw was "help".. if you've been there you'll know what I mean. Big cuddles & it was time.........
So, I think I made some mistakes along the way & should probably have gone with my instincts when they first found the tumour but what's done is done... I wish I could change it but I can't!
To everyone who took an interest from day one a big thank you...
To FC, orlao, chris n tj, artytarty & debjam... :T You lot are the dogs danglies

I'm so sorry for you loss I'm nearly crying now and I've got builders outside I know what your going through it's so so sad.
We've had our black lab for around 11 years now she had cancer about 3 years ago but had it removed sadly it's come back and there is nothing they can really do for her so it's just a matter of time really. It's not affecting her too much by the look of it but I guess time will tell.
Thinking of you

Paradigm, I'm ssoooo sorry, I'm sat here in tears now, just don't know what to say.
As I said the other day we never know if the decision we make is the right one or not at the time, but I said to a customer at work the other day who enquired about my boy that at least we can make that decision when they ask, not like with a person who we have to watch suffering knowing the inevitable outcome.
Well I hope we do hear from you again, I'll need your support one day too.
Goodnight and God Bless Darcy the DDB, and lots of hugs and sloppy kisses to you and your family from me and my boy(he supplied the kisses).0 -
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's a year next week that I lost Spook to cancer, and it still upsets me to think about her final few months and I wonder if I should have ended her suffering sooner.
You did your absolute best for her, and she was lucky to have such a good life with wonderful, caring owners. Just remember that and don't beat yourself up about it.
RIP Darcy.0
