. But on a more serious note - think on the brighter side, there will be less stress for yourself and your parents about when the flights are going to start back up again etc? i know its not going to make it feel any less painful but every cloud has a silver lining, you just have to keep an eye out for it
Thanks for your kind words. I do know what you mean, it will be nice to get my flat back to myself and Mum has been getting quite stressed about the uncertainty of it all... Having family close by does make me think that I should look at going home myself one day (I have been here for 7.5 years)... I will get back into my no more toiletries challenge like crazy when they leave - I have given quite a bit of my stash to my mum to take back with her!I'm buying No More Toiletries, I'm Deluttering and I'm Losing Weight for 2010!0 -
We shall have to call it the "Must Try Harder In May Toiletries Challenge" !!!
No use ups here yet - though thankfully I seem to be able to see the base of that botanics moisturiser....
STILL no flake wins either - I must have eaten about 13 flakes so far - and bought 3 multipacks (the nine ones too - nt the small ones!!) in tesco the other day - SURELY I must win one with that lot?? (not that Im obsessed or anything!!!)
no news on the man front (for any of you who are interested!!) have had the odd text but not seen him for ages. Methinks either I need to ask him what the flip is going on,if anything - or just give up.... (giving up seems to be winning at the moment, surely if he was interested he'd be more frthcoming???!!)0 -

, can you please advise me of an eye gel to begin using?
I'm in my early 20s but my skin around my eyes is starting to feel delicate and I think it might get a bit papery soon? I've been using a tester of the Benefit eye gel (as I have a soft spot for benefit) over the past couple of nights but I think it is drying them out and are leaving them sore (almost like an eyelash has been in my eye and i've been rubbing them!). As they say prevention is better than cure?
Thanks in advancex

I just discovered thee threads and it's interesting to understand how people started on this route. Mine was when i tidied my bathroom before christmas and realised how much stuff I had, a lot of it bought in bogofs or whatever. And so I put one bottle of each out (the emptiest) and put the rest in a box and promised to use it. I get a good feeling of satisfaction as all the nearly empties are finished.
There are lots of reasons why we hoard stuff and I wondered if we understood it then it might help us get back in control
1) special offers, bogofs etc. Good for products we are genuinely going to use but a nightmare if you bogof something new and it doesn't suit you. Solution sell or swap with friends for one that does and note to self not to bogof untried products. If you aren't going to use it then either give it away or throw it away (but I do hate waste)
2) gifts of things that are special/expensive and a feeling that somehow we should "save them for best". My mum does this and it drives me nuts. As she has lots of lovely bubble bath but then puts washing up liquid in her bath to save money !!!! think what that's doing to her skin! My solution to this is to say "i'm worth it" and enjoy using your nice products before they go off. Stuff does go off , the scents go and anything moisurising tends to go nasty after a couple of years so just kick yourself and use your lovely expensive stuff. The people who bought it for you as a present would be happy to know you are enjoying it.
3)Something jacjacjac mentioned a lot of posts ago, that she buys herself little treats in boots to cheer herself up. I understand this well and it's probably the same thing that makes us buy ourselves chocolate when we are feeling low. I would be interested in anyone's suggestions on how to get round this psycological type of shopping. It's easy enough to think "just don't buy that nailvarnish and put the fiver in your money box towards something better" but in practice when you need a little pick me up that's not going to work.
I had two years worth of clarins moistureiser and it's down to one jar now.
I travel a bit for work and so I use up smal bottle of things in my travelling bag.
I'm doing the same thing with all the birthday cards in the box under my bed and all the food in the freezer! We said after christmas that we would empty the freezers and defrost it and we did quite well until the kids cam home from uni for easter. Most of the stuff in the freezer is two portions and I'm a mum who needs to feed her children good food, fresh stuff every day. They have gone back now so we are going back to the freezer challenge.
Our motto for this year is
"the cheapest option is to use the stuff you have already got", in our case the problem is finding it and knowing you have it and so we have been tidying up the garage and loft and found heaps of stuff and got it organised in the garage so no more gardening stuff or DIY stuff for a while!

Have used up a Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion and a Sensodyn toothpaste. WIBA? Toothpaste yes, lotion - not so sure. Not in winter at least as it didn't quite moisturise it enough in the winter.I agree, it has the consistency and appearance of custard and doesn't moisturise that well. It also has no PSF, and that crosses any moisturiser off my list I'm afraid.
Lol, it is funny how different things suit different people - I find this moisturiser amazing for my skin - it's the only thing that makes it better when it's dry, i can almost feel my skin sucking it in - I use it every day and it keeps my skin perfectly moisturised and balanced, I just haven't ever found aything else as good for me.Well I've had a nice pampering bath now. Shaved my legs and applied the gradual tanner again. I've used some more of the night cream and it's nice and soothing. I've noticed that the deep wrinkle in between my eyebrows is much smoother now so the cream obviously works!
My eye is still really sore. I had a look in the mirror earlier and I felt like I could see a black dot (like a splinter) on the inside of my lower eyelid. If it's still bad tomorrow then I'll go to A&E when I go into work to take the duty rotas in.
Sorry to be such a misery today. Hope I feel happier tomorrow!
Oooh, Kaz, hope this gets better soon, doens't sound like fun0 -

I'll second the Simple one - I've just started using one and the fine lines around my eye got less noticeable within 2 days! It's the Simple Repair Anit-Wrinkle Eye cream - £7.99: http://www.boots.com/en/Simple-Repair-Anti-Wrinkle-Eye-Cream-15ml_861312/
I also quite like the Boots cucumber eye gel for a cheapie product - £1.49!: http://www.boots.com/en/Essentials-Cucumber-Eye-Gel-15ml_869632/ might be worth trying first rather than investing in something expensive that doesn't work.
I also really rate Clinique All About Eyes Rich (and the original gel is good too), but this is a more expensive option, at £22: http://www.boots.com/en/Clinique-all-About-Eyes-Rich-Very-Dry-to-Dry-Combination-Skin-Types-15ml_36335/
I'm late 20's, and have been using eye cream for about 8 yrs I think. After a recent experiement, I do really believe it makes a difference. But different things suit different people - maybe try asking at some beauty counters for free samples?0 -

I too really like the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser however I do prefer Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream more as it's lighter however would definitely use the Clinique one as a night cream.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Two more things used up last night/this morning (it's been a good week!):
James Brown Scandalous Repair treatment (free with mag). WIBA? No. I have long, blonde hair - my hair is actually quite fine, but there's so much of it it looks quite thick - I like my hair to look thick and shiny, and have got pretty good at achieveing this, but this treatment made it dull and thin, and a little flyaway. Never again.
Estee Lauder Double Wear light foundation sample. WIBA? Maybe... The sample lasted a few days, and i'm quite impressed - good coverage, and really does last. It's possibly a little thick, as it's slightly hard to apply in the morning, and does gather very slightly (anywhere around vaguely dry skin) by mid afternoon. But mixed with some moisturiser, or some light shimmer lotion in summer, it could be really good (I do mix foundations occasionally anyway). It's a while since I've come across something that would make me consider changing foundation, so it'll be interesting to see how i feel when i've been through all my samples, and start using my clinique standard again - I might try and get another sample of this from a beauty counter to do a straight comparison...
Unfortunately I'm not really near the bottom of much else now, won't have more to report for a while0 -
