These so called "eco friendly" devices are a complete waste of money. You will still use the the same amount of energy to boil a given amount of water in ANY electric kettle.

    Buy this:

and put in just the amount of water you want to boil.

I'll split the saving with you ! :D

goes to show what a rubbish design it was, the new ones have got a water gauge on the side.

It was a carefully designed kettle, sell you (the people, not specifically you) the first kettle then next year bring out a better model with a gauge, and sell some more.

How many people throw away a perfectly good item just so they can buy the latest one which has another gadget on it?

I know they use the same amount of electrickery to boil the same volume of water, but the other Twits in the house are incapable of understanding a concept so simple.
Mr Twit overfills it so boiling water spews out all over the worktop and Miss Twit trys to boil it without any water at all.

I was hoping that the gadgety gimick of moving water from one chamber to another would appeal to them.

I can convince mother to get me a kettle, but really I'd like a Grand Remoska  but mother will think I've really lost the plot. :p

water does not need to get to boil for a cup of tea or coffee. I use my ears and can tell by the noise it makes when to switch off. Whatatwit why dont you try standing a good pouring jug by the kettle and mark measurements on the jug for cupfulls

My mum has on of these (the superkettle). My brother bought if for her because she is 81 and it's much easier than using a kettle. It's on 24 hours a day.

He recently realised that it uses a lot of electricity so he bought the tefal one cup machine.

My mum prefers the urn though, it's also good for when she gets up in the middle of the night for a hot drink. It needs descaling now, they are figuring out how to do that, it's quite a large object.

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has one of those 'Eco Kettle's?
I'm needing a new kettle and thought it would be a good idea. Though now I'm looking into it I suspect they could be annoying to use; and are they any better than any other kettle with a flat element and a volume measure on the side??
Are there any other kettles you would recommend as 'green'?
    Thanks,
    Sx

We got one for christmas and it's certainly less annoying than the novelty cow shaped kettle that came with our flat...

We like it, it seems quicker than other kettles.
