It's at the ethicalsuperstore and cost £29:00
Not much point in telling you if I can't tell you where to buy it, is there?Bennys from sunny Manchester0 -
Has anyone also considered the fact that these kettles seem to be of a more complicated construction, having two reservoirs and all the associated gubins to release water etc.. more plastic used and hence quite a bit less eco-friendly to manufacture than a standard kettle!?
Geez I hate all this Eco-bull :mad:0 -
They look as if they would be top heavy as well so heavy to lift and difficult to pour.
I'll add it to my list of overrated (domestic) eco/green/save the planet devices, solar panels, wind turbines washing balls, toyota prius, sava plugs etc.
Must go have to check the reading on my electrisave :rotfl:
My mil has one and it's is top heavy and heavy, the button and the top to relase the water into the boiling chamber is stiff and slow i don't like it rather have a normal kettle and use how much i wantI have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

Try www.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I have just bought their eco kettle which boils just 1 cup or 2 or 3 etc.
Brillant
I bought an ordinary kettle for a fiver and it too boils 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 cups depending on how much water I put in it.
I also have a travel kettle and it can only boil a good size mug of water. It's a bit slow but it gets there in the end.0 -
I've often wondered which is the most efficient and as far as I can tell there's no answer anywhere. I'd like to know how long it take a 2kw and a 3kw kettle to boil a mug (say 350mml) of water, then we'd all know which is the better one. Assuming that all the elements have the same efficiency and that room temperature water is the same.
btw
I have a 2kw kettle and am prepared to do a test if someone else is prepared (or sad enough) to do the same.MFiT member 127

Electric kettles, like any other electrical appliance, are 100% efficient in their use of electricity to produce heat.
The 3kW kettle will boil the water quicker and so there will be less heat loss from the surface of the kettle in the time it takes to boil the water - but the difference will be so small to be almost unmeasurable.
In any case the heat loss from both kettles is not wasted in that it heats the room.
So the answer is they are both equal.0 -
They are heavy, and undoubtedly cost more to produce but it stops the 36 or so pupils who I teach every week filling up the kettle to the top to make a cup of tea whilst waiting for their singing lesson ! That has GOT to make a difference, but I expect some folk will tell me not to let them have tea.................Bah Humbug0

Hi, yes, I do know that there have been threads discussing these before and I have been reading through them.
But, my current kettle is a De Longhi one, it's a fancy shaped thing that I paid a small fortune for and it took me a while to realise that it had no gauge on the side to judge how much water is in there and it's flippin' heavy even when empty.
Also the lid is an absolute pig to remove and we end up filling it by the spout
So, for those that have one of these Eco Kettles, are they worth it and do you think that there has been a drop in your electricity consumption.
Yes, I also know that if a cheapo kettle is only filled by the amount of water that you need then it's more economical, but both Mr & Miss Twit are totally incapable of something so simple  .
Please can I have some up to date reviews.
PS, I have been waiting for ages for the De Longhi one to die, and then I can justify getting a new kettle and so far it seems to be indestructible, but my mum will buy me a kettle for my birthday if I ask nicely :AOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

Sell it on ebay, there's a twit born every minute.
Sorry for that remark, it was meant as a joke, but selling it on ebay may be a good idea. Someone will get use out of it, and if they didn't buy your kettle they'd buy another one.
Just don't do it until you have a new one from your mum.0 -

I'll palm it off onto Mr Twit, he usually has a kettle in his van
Good point though, I'd never even considered e-bay for it, goes to show what a rubbish design it was, the new ones have got a water gauge on the side.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
