They may say they are dolphin-friendly, but has anyone ever done a study. Is there any scientific evidence to show they are dolphin-friendly?
OK, no dolphins are killed during the manufacturing process, but we all know these lamps attract whales and this is the reason why whales beach themselves.
They could also be causing dolphins to beach them selves.0 -
we've got one, we like it, its heavy if its full to pour out just a cup but with 4 of us in the house and my brother coffeeing and snacking its good to make sure we all just boil enough water.
We have an energy owl too, its funny cos the alarm is set to ring if anyone uses over a certain amount of energy (ie if the kettle goes on) so now I know when people are snacking he he he he
Its now known as the snack alarm, does make you think tho'! The eco kettle boils the cups worth quicker so the alarm goes off quicker, so must work I guess!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -

The eco kettle works perfectly for me as a student.
I have the kettle in my room and only need to fill it up once a day or so but I can still boil just one cup at a time.

To digress slightly:- my daughter had a tuna sandwich in Waitrose today, it claimed to be "dolphin friendly" - what about the poor, friendless b****y tuna !0 -
As the title states, which one is the best out there? Best for ease of use, quality of build, and miserly energy use as well as initial cost?0

Hi spurs I have the Morphy Richards ECO kettle in black plastic is fantastic very quick boiling and saves money as well. makes perfect Coffee, Latte on ECO setting I think I paid £40 including delivery. I highly recommend it0

The ECO kettle saves no money in the sense it cost EXACTLY the same to heat water as any other kettle.
All it does is more precisely measure one cup.
You can buy a new kettle for £10, to pay £40 is a nonsense in money saving terms.0 -
But surely by making it easier to measure out one cup at a time, it makes it more likely you will only boil the correct amount and boiling one cup must be more economical than boiling three or four cups when you only want one?0

Even if you boil 3 cups of water when you only meant to boil 2, it's going to take you forever to recoup that £30.
Most cheap kettles have a window with marked increments: tip one mug of water into the kettle, remember where the fill level comes to and fill it up to there for subsequent cups. I do this and only boil what I need, and my kettle cost £8.99.0
